♠♠♠ FACTS ABOUT ANTS ♠♠♠ ►LEARNING OUTCOMES◄ Students will learn plenty of new vocabulary words through engaging and challenging activities. They will work individually, in pairs or in small groups to include variety in lesson dynamics. While studying this mini unit, they will get their juices flowing while working in pairs or small groups to form sentences by using the wordle. This activity will lead them to the first part of the article about ants. Before getting to read, they will have to unscramble some words and define them. To get familiar with the second part of the article they will engage in a form filling activity first. Before enjoying the video '5 amazing facts about ants' they will work together to develop their listening abilities. The pre-listening activity sees them working to just put in order the words when they hear them. The second activity is more challenging and sees them working individually to fill the blanks while listening. They will, then, engage in descriptive piece of writing to discuss about the importance of teamwork. ►LEARNING OUTCOMES◄ Students will learn plenty of new vocabulary words through engaging and challenging activities. They will work individually, in pairs or in small groups to include variety in lesson dynamics. Before getting to read the texts, students can work in pairs to match words with pictures. The story about the legend of Nian is split into two parts. All the reading activities can be done in pairs or small groups. During the pre-reading activity students will be faced with a wordle containing all the words from the story and they will be asked to form three complete sentences by using as many words as possible from the wordle. After that, they will engage in a gap filling activity to get to know the first part of the story. They will, then, engage in a writing activity to propose an alternative part 2 to the legend. The second part of the story is presented through two activities. During the first students work on a wordsearch and only then they will fill the blanks with the words from the previous exercise. Mini ESL unit about chocolate. Students will engage in a number of pre-listening activities to prepare them to watch a video about the history of chocolate. They will learn 20 words related to chocolate with a word-picture matching activity. They will learn plenty of vocabulary words in the two worksheet that precede the listening tasks. ►LEARNING OUTCOMES◄ GENERAL: Students will learn plenty of new vocabulary words through engaging and challenging activities. They will work individually, in pairs or in small groups to include variety in lesson dynamics. SPECIFIC: This mini unit is based around a listening activity (a video from Youtube) about the history of chocolate. Before students engage in listening, filling the missing gaps and answering questions, there are a few of pre-listening activities. The first one is a wordle which includes vocabulary words from the introduction of the video. Students need to form sentences by using such words. Another pre-listening activity is a matching exercise, where students need to match words with pictures. Two more worksheets with 4 exercises are included to practice finding synonyms, antonyms and definitions. All in preparation for the listening task.
