NEW CLUB BINGO A PRACTICAL WAY TO PLAY WITH ONE HUNDRED BINGO CARDS

(0)
ABOUT NEW CLUB BINGO This program lets you play bingo with up to one hundred cards. You can enter called numbers one by one; there is also an auto call feature. It uses a one hundred deck bingo set sold on amazon for $9 dollars. What you do is this: Sell up to ten cards per person. Cards are shown in ten card rows to facilitate this. If a person buys less than ten cards, you can cover the rest of the line with tape ,if you like. (Other arraignments are possible.) The cards’ hits are shown next to them as the game devolves as a number. When a card has 23 hits; next to winning, it turns a different color. When it has a full card it turns red to signal a bingo. You present the card with the bingo from the card pack as proof to the caller. The game continues after a bingo, because the bingo may be on a card not bought. You pay the person who’s row wins. Value of this program: Bingo is a math game. You can study probability with it. The evils of gambling will be on display with this program.

There is a command in BBC BASIC for Windoows *REFRESH OFF. This makes quick games possible. I’ve included this in Bus Bingo. I’ve also reorganized tge instructions on the top line. Faster games makes for more viewing of how games are going. Can you predict a win? I have formed some ideas; and I’m usually right.

WHY YOU MIGHT LIKE BINGO MANIA

THE MEANING OF BINGO Bingo is a game of frustration, so it is an apt metaphor for life. You struggle, with ups and downs toward a goal. Early advantages dissipate; early disasters can be overcome. Its most always a close call finish. This automated game bring this out, as the computer struggles again and again to get to the finish - a real genie bound to its task. (A count of the wins and losses is kept.) In the game, you have ten bingo cards and the goal is to cover one before turn 70. As you progress, you’ll see a graph of your average hits per turn. (This gyrates wildly, early on.) Often you build a solid lead which is chipped way at (As you get good balls, the likelihood of bad ones grows.) You’ll see how many cards have 15,16,17,18,19,20,21,22,23 hits on them. You’ll have turn number markers 0,10,20,30,40,50,60,69 to guage your success at covering a card before turn 70. There is a midpoint marker; you should have a card with 15 hits on it by. There are three qualities of hits - high medium low; above 3, 3, below 3 respectively. That is, a ball should result in that many hits in your cards. There are the magic 4 and the deadly 4; that is the ones with 8 and 6 hits and the ones with one or 0 hits. The is a nifty bottom line with the ball numbers ranked. When you get a ball its number turns blue then red. You’ll see a little sign with these with good minus bad hit balls. You most often success if you have the big hit balls, but not always; and real low hit balls drag you down. It’s all part of the little town fun! Each turn’s hits have a sound (you can thankfully turn off),so you can guess by listening to a game, if you’re doing well or not. Can you guess if you won? It is pure math and probability. There are only 75 balls to play with in each game. Keeping your ball picks toward the good end of the spectrum is key. It most often comes down to the last ten balls. (BINGO is a good time waster.) Your graph ball turns red if one of your cards has 23 (one to go) on it. Often, the one seemly easily destined to win waits in vain with a long trail of red. Often your cards have balanced hits on them, preventing and one from developing into a winner. You may like this game, so give it a try. Some insights can be gleaned from seeing such a concentration of games. You can easily get it going and easily get out too. Paul Skittone

ABOUT BINGO I understand that BINGO is an American invented game, so let me explain my BINGO programs and why you might like them. I improve my programs with ascending number names: BINGO 67, BINGO 68… I often think I’m done, so I publish them; I’m up to BUS BINGO 91! BINGO is a little lotto type game, that can be quickly run. Children and old people play, as it takes only attending to your card, However; it’s a mania in parts of the USA and other places. It is an entre to numbers and probability and grits to a computer, which is at heart a number cruncher. What you do is get a card with 24 random numbers from 1 to 75. A caller picks number from 1-75 and you cover the numbers on your card. In my game, you win when you cover all your numbers. A perfect game; in which you cover all your card in 24 turns has an astronomically low chance of happening. With forty cards in a game, it lasts for about 71 turns. People bet on this! It’s so simple that children play, with underlying probability that can interest mathematicians. (I have played 530 million simulated games to show each card has a equal chance of winning an any 4 numbers in a row game. BINGO and computers are simpatico.) There are an astronomical number of different cards. BUS BINGO 91 is a quick way to play to view some of this simplicity/complexity, without the complications. It just runs games and shows you the results. In this way, you can disabuse yourself about notions of luck and special numbers; which some people charmingly harbor. While I wrote this program for my own use, to play on a bus with ten cards; you can get in on the action. If you win in under 70 turns, count it as a win; that is, you would probably win on the bus with 30 other cards playing. The fascination with BINGO puzzle me. My first response to it, after childhood, encounters; was zombie-like boredom, but it grows on you; so give it a look!

ABOUT MY THREE BINGO GAMES

(0)
ABOUT MY THREE BINGO PROGRAMS I go to Atlantic City New Jersey USA, a resort town with gambling casinos. They have a free bingo game to attract people. I played and got interested in Bingo. Later, the bus I go to AC with, has a BINGO game and you can buy as many cards as you like. I wrote a program to keep track of ten cards and successfully played with it. I call this BUS BINGO. I wanted more than ten cards. I bought a set of 100 cards and wrote a similar program. You sell cards or keep track on paper. It picks the balls, marks the cards and announces a winner. I call this CLUB BINGO. Yet a bigger bingo game is CHURCH BINGO. It makes up 1000 cards. Everything occurs in the computer. This program gives a part of the winnings to the house (church). While I never used it; I assume you can sell cards, giving a raffle ticket as proof. You then enter the ticket number and the number of cards the person bought. It runs several games, figuring the prizes and keeping track. It announces the winner and keeps a running total of the prizes. THE VALUE OF BINGO: Bingo is a number game and subject to speculation about probability. (I ran 500 million games looking for the best cards. I made the conclusion that all cards win the same.) There are at least two theories claiming otherwise. By computerizing games, they can be done quicker, giving more data on probability. GAMBLING IS BAD: Playing games with play money or pennies teaches the folly of gambling. It gives an opportunity for parents to teach about the evils of gambling. Bingo should return exactly what you bet; if you play enough games. THE END

THE HORSE RACE GAME IS A RACE BETWEEN EIGHT HORSES. EACH HORSE HAS A DECK OF CARDS TO GIVE IT ABILITY TO MOVE FORWARD. AT THE END OF THE RACE, THE COMPUTER PICKS A WINNER, BASED ON HOW FAR AHEAD YOU ARE FROM THE WINNER; EVERYONE HAS A CHANCE TO WIN. STATISTICS ARE KEPT, RANKING THE HORSES. THEY AGE. YOU REPLACE HORSES THAT DON’T WIN; EVERY FEW RACES (I USE EVERY TEN RACES). THE COMPUTER DOES EVERYTHING. YOU JUST WATCH; FROM THE GRANDSTAND. THIS IS AN ADAPTATION; A DEMONSTRATION, OF THE TESTING MACHINE. THE TESTING MACHINE ALLOWS EIGHT STUDENTS TO ANSWER QUESTIONS TOGETHER. Adding numbers is an important skill. This program does this: Let’s you choose how many numbers to add from 2 to 25. Presents the number list vertically. Waits for you to add the numbers. Presents the answer when you press enter. You can change the length of the number list. I have included the BBC BASIC for WINDOWS CODE and a exe program to run on WINDOWS.
Do Some Bingo Cards Win More than Other Cards? - An Experiment

Do Some Bingo Cards Win More than Other Cards? - An Experiment

(0)
Do Some Bingo Cards Win More than Other Cards? - An Experiment There are theories that predict more winable bingo cards; namely Tippett and Grandville Theories. These seem like plausible theories made by respected mathematicians. This is an experiment to see if some cards win more often than other cards. I play bingo in a club. There are twenty to fifty players. I noticed that you must win in at least twenty five turns. I wrote a computer program to make bingo cards and play with them; this is easy for a computer which is very mathematical. I was able to play 1000 games a second with my home computer. I count the wins in less than 26 as a measure of quality. I play 1000 cards 1000 times each. I compare these cards to a master list with high scoring cards. I replace lower scoring cards with higher scoring cards. In this way, I get the highest scoring cards concentrated on a master list. Regular cards win about 80 times in 1000 tries. The master list boosted wins to 108 wins per 1000 games. I use a number seed to make cards so I can make a card again. What I did to see if cards win more was to use the master list cards to play again and see there winability then. I played 530 million games to make a master list of 1000 top winning cards. However; when I played with these top cards again, they proved to be no better than a randomly made card. This seems to indicate that all bingo cards have an equal chance of winning and no card is any better than any other card. In this product I include: the program, the master top scoring card list, the top scoring list when used again, more details about the program. If cards did show more winability, I would have pursued a reason for this - different last digits, average near the mean as the bingo theories indicate they should be like. My explanation to this project is this: A card may score very high by chance. That is, a card may win more times in 1000 trials by chance. Every 1000 cards, a few may excel by chance. It is like winning a lottery. If you win a lottery, than does not mean you are more likely to win another lottery again. You have an equal chance to win another lottery as anyone else. I am sure this is not the final word on this matter and some other thing may come up, but this is solid evidence against bingo theories. Paul Skittone 2023

THE BASIC MATH EVALUATOR and COURSE explained

THE BASIC MATH EVALUATOR and COURSE explained The math product I offer, Basic Math Evaluator and Course, is special to me. I was a Speech Improvement Teacher in a high school in the 1990’s. My students always failed a basic math course that was offered to them in place of the regular course. The way they were taught was degrading and ineffective. This hurt me because I was poor in math in high school in a similar way. I resolved to write a program with my new found BASIC programming skills. The staff of my school was cooperative and supportive. The program, as you see it, was the result of this effort. It can be used in a course. Problems can be presented so that several types of problem appear in a sequence. Students must recall how to do them again and again. Because they work individually, tutoring in place is possible. After a test, the program shows you a list of the skills you know and don't know based on your answers. We had great success with this approach. The program has been upgraded to work with BBC BASIC for Windows and has three variations of questions. The problem of images was cleaverly side stepped by presenting images as pictures, instead of being generated each time. With modern computers and the internet, it is now available to you! Thank-you TES, Thank-you Russell! (BBC BASIC creator). I hope you use it and it’s ideas will be adopted.
