This assembly challenges how students view what learning is, especially in preparing for examinations. It emphasises the importance of learning not just for the exam. Using the Eiffel Tower as an illustration of how the view from the top and bottom are very different.

An induction activity for students studying A level Sociology. I give the students this activity to complete during the summer break between Year 12 and 13 in preparation for the Beliefs in Society module. It gets them thinking about how they will conduct the research. I encourage them to explore some primary research and visit a local religious community. During the lessons, they have a great case study to apply to what they learn, particularly those students that are not members of a religious community.

These WTQ worksheets give students an answer and they have to write an appropriate question. Very good for revision. A good starter for revision lessons which lead to discussion on the best wording for the question to fit the answer best! Student review of the year

Student review of the year

Tutor time activity. Can be used at any level. In the style of the Academy Awards, students ‘nominate’ the subjects they think they have done well in. This is a good way to get a tutor group to review their performance over the year, or halfway through the year. It can also be useful as a piece of student research into which subjects the students feel most positive about.
