Spaghetti in a Hot Dog Bun, a story by Maria Dismondy is about a girl named Lucy who is bullied for being different by a boy at school named Ralph. After reading this story, have the students recap the settings, characters, plot and themes. The students will also have the opportunity to write sentences using some of the vocabulary from the story. Another fun activity that students will complete, is coming up with a new title and cover for the book. An anti-bullying button will also be designed by the students. Also included is a "Lucy" acrostic. It can be used to do a character sketch on Lucy. Media Literacy Activities are also included!
