This is a fully comprehensive unit of work, which should cover approximately 7-8 weeks worth of lessons (based on 5 hours a week). It aims to introduce students to the four theoretical frameworks of the AQA A Level Media Studies course. It also covers a brief introduction to different media forms that the students will need to be familiar with. There are exemplar answers, exam questions and a homework booklet covering a range of iconic media products designed to supplement students’ learning. This unit aims to introduce students to every theory that the exam board requires them to know about and has a specific focus on unseen media language, unseen media theory question and questions 5.1 and 5,2. The aim would be to give students an understanding of the different theories and frameworks prior to studying any products in depth. The selected products are considered iconic too, which will help students to link to wider examples from the media industry.
This a SOW for co teaching of the advertising products Maybelline and Score. Includes lots of contextual information about advertising in the 60s compared to now. Also includes a range of exam questions on ares such as post modernism, semiotics, etc so that students can practise their skills. Comprehensive sow containing 12 lessons. Tried and tested with Year 13 students and worked effectively.
This is an introductory unit for Year 12 English Language, which covers all frameworks such as: graphology, lexis and semantics, grammar and syntax, phonetics and phonology, discourse, pragmatics, as well as an introduction to genre, audience, purpose, representation and context. There are lessons for each framework and a homework booklet which corresponds with the lessons too. Could be used as the first unit in Year 12 and encourages students to see the bigger picture to improve context through some of the text choices.
Focusing on Section A of Paper One, ten different resources to use in lessons or could be used as a homework resource. Multiple pairs included, one historical text and one contemporary, across a variety of different topics. Included are also scaffolds for each question to help to support the analysis process; these have been used in lessons with my A Level students and have proven successful. Mark schemes are also included and there is a progress check for students to use to support their learning as well as an essay tracker.

This is a complete sow including all relevant theories, all areas of the framework are included too. There are comprehensive sections focusing on semiotics, post modernism, post colonialism (which could be used to teach the theories the first time). Recap sections on the Media Effects theories. A hwk booklet is included and all the resources are too. The newspaper articles are included to help with context for the product. There is also an optional exam question with mark scheme too. Each lesson connects to one of the frameworks. Interleaving tasks are included as some starters and hwk tasks to recap unseen and application of theory skills.
