WJEC Level 1/2 Hospitality and Catering 1.1.4 Contributing factors to the success of hospitality and catering provision The environmental impact Set of 3 lessons Lesson 1: Slides 1 to 9 focusing on reduce, reuse, recycle (reuse, repair, rethink), including learning objectives, starter and plenary activities, and various activities. Lesson 2: Slides 10 to 12 including starter and plenary, and a research task. Pupils will require the internet to complete the task. Lesson 3: Pupils cook their chosen dish based on their research from lesson 2.

Includes: Task introduction PowerPoint which explains the requirements of each aspect of the task and the assessment criteria. PowerPoint to teach the theory, has questions on relevant slides for pupils to answer (I get them to do this in their books). This resource covers customer demographics and special dietary requirements. There is information summarising development and dietary requirements through the life stages. There is a past paper question with mark scheme (June 2019) on demographics. There is also an information sheet summarising special dietary needs, what people on specific special diets can and cannot eat, and a worksheet. I’ve also included two worksheets which have been downloaded from HWB, I take no credit for these and have not charged for these as they are freely available to anyone who knows where to look!

Learning objectives: To know trends in the UK Hospitality and Catering Industry To know and understand how hospitality and catering provision adapts to satisfy media interest and influence. To know and understand how awareness of competition from other providers affects hospitality and catering provision. To know and understand how environmental concerns, and seasonality impact hospitality and catering provision. Resource includes PowerPoint presentation with starter and plenary activities. The slides cover trends in the hospitality an catering industry, and seasonality. There is an activity for pupils to design a menu (will require the internet to research seasonal ingredients and to look at an existing menu). There is also an information shet and questions based on social media influence.

A set of flash cards for the life stages and milestones for physical development up to sixteen years old (glue and fold down the middle then cut out) 3. A summary of growth and development through the life stages - I get the pupils to highlight and mind map the key information as a revision exercise
