I have had great feedback from colleagues about my resources. Some of them are free and some are available to download, alter and use for a small download fee. Hopefully it will save people time! I love teaching and I love making resources. I make resources to use myself, ones that are useful! I have been teaching for a long time. I have taught from reception all the way up- every year group. But my specialist and favourite areas are Years 5 and 6 and my favourite subject is English

HYPHENS - word bank of hyphenated words KS2 (grammar and writing)(Alphabet list)

During moderation, using HYPHENS was one area of writing most of my children always found hard to ‘tick off’. So to help them I compiled this hyphenated word bank. I left a space in each letter so they could add words of their own to it. But having them in front of them has definitely helped them to get hyphenated words in to their writing more. Some of them had to be explained to them for meaning, but now they love trying to fit some of the more unusual ones in to their writing. They also add words from their reading books to the list. I found this very useful as there isn’t much on hyphens out there to help us teachers! Enjoy! Viking Boy KS2 Fiction and Non-Fiction- inspired by the Write Stuff

I used the write stuff style planning with my class for Viking Boy by Tony Bradman. We wrote narratives using 5 plot points each with 3 learning chunks. The planning is also included. Also, as my class loved the format, we used the same style for Non-Fiction, newspaper reports. I made an example of a newspaper too as my class also did this for their computing sessions (word processing). I have included this too. We got really good fiction and non-fiction writing from all of the children using these resources. Any questions, please ask.

Progression in Writing Grammar Assessment Card Ks1-2 Bundle

5 Resources
These progression in writing assessment cards are child friendly and colourful. This pack includes year 1- year 5. I haven’t made a year 6 yet…but work in progress! The children find them easy to use with great examples. I made them as English coordinator to help embed grammar throughout the school and also help staff with the expectations for the children in each year. I used the National curriculum and the Pie Corbett progression in writing to help me piece these together. The individual price of these totals £14.95, so thought I bundle them together for just £5.99. Please feel free to adapt this resource and obviously change the school name and logo at the top. I am sure everyone will find these as useful as we have at our school.

I created these checklist cards as English Coordinator to help embed grammar throughout the school. The children can use them to assess when they have done a piece of writing. I used both the national curriculum and Pie Corbett's progression in writing to put these together. They are very visual and give examples. This is the year 5 one. Had lots of good feedback from our school and cluster from children and staff. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/richbreeds

Year 6 writing moderation grids - child friendly (progression in writing/grammar)

I made these grids similar to the moderation sheets we use as teachers, but child friendly with pictures and examples to help the children understand what to look for in their writing. My children use these effectively and it also helps my teacher assessment and their understanding. It may help new year 6 teachers too! I think this in the most useful resource I've made so far to help year 5 and 6 children with their writing. It has helped me get my books in order for writing moderation too! This word mat is to be photocopied double sided and laminated. It includes: All the year 5/6 curriculum spelling words Hyphenated Words Subordinating conjunctions Co-ordinating Conjunctions Modal Verbs Contractions (including spoken contractions) It is colourful, well set out and easy to use. I hope others find it as useful as our school does. It does help them when they are writing. https://www.tes.com/teaching-resources/shop/richbreeds

I made this for my classroom and it has been really successful. We have printed it on A3 paper and laminated it and it is displayed in the classroom. During the week, I choose 5 words that lots of the class are getting wrong. Under the tick I write the correct spelling and under the cross some of the incorrect spellings for that word children have used. I hope others find it as useful as my class have.
