During moderation, using HYPHENS was one area of writing most of my children always found hard to ‘tick off’. So to help them I compiled this hyphenated word bank. I left a space in each letter so they could add words of their own to it. But having them in front of them has definitely helped them to get hyphenated words in to their writing more. Some of them had to be explained to them for meaning, but now they love trying to fit some of the more unusual ones in to their writing. They also add words from their reading books to the list. This sheet explains and revises active and passive voice. I made these to help my class to consolidate their understanding of active/passive and now they are using it independently in their writing. There are 3 tasks to complete- it is colourful and visual and gives clear examples of each. I currently teach a very mixed ability year 5 and 6 class and they all found it useful.
