This is an introduction to parallel and series circuits for non specialist physics teacher. Included with the powerpoint slide is a worksheet, and how to set up the practical, with troubleshooting.
The jpeg files are previews of the slides and what the equipment looks like.
Great resource for newly qualified science teachers, student teachers and non specialists.
17 jpg images on the Solar System. Explaining some of the bits of the Solar System are often forgotten!
All images are courtesy of NASA and are free to reuse for commercial and non commercial uses.
I made a powerpoint with easy to read font for all the possible command terms in science exams (SATs, GCSEs, AS/A Levels). However, I am certain these command terms are also applicable to many other non-science subjects.
There are 25 command terms with definitions, on A4 landscape pages. An example of one of the command terms is below:
State: Give a specific name, value or other brief answer. (No supporting argument or calculation is needed)
Included is the original powerpoint to add to/edit. As you may not have the font I used installed it will just show up in Arial. I've included a pdf copy as well which will have the font I used on it.
I picked the font, as normally these type of displays are written in comic sans to make them easy to read, but I detest that font! This font, named 'complete in him' is easy to read for dyslexic students (I have surveyed some of my students who are dyslexic, and I am also dyslexic)
Bundle of two of my most popular displays. Each resource contains several high quality images of either features of the Solar System or the history of Manned Spaceflight or Newton's Law of Gravitation.
Electricity is one of the least favourite topics non specialist physics teachers have to cover, these three resources give clear explanations on concepts students at GCSE and IGCSE need to cover, along with clear instructions on how to set up practicals!
Using the film (and book) 'The Martian' as a theme, this A3 sheet asks questions based on Newton's Law of Gravitation.
Aimed at KS5 Students. Original publisher file attached, as well as a pdf in case you do not have Publisher installed.
This guide will show you how to download the Vernier Graphical Analysis app for your (and your students') iPhone, iPad and Android tablets and phones.
It will also show you how to manually record data on the app, and how to share the data so that it can be processed in Excel.
I've used this powerpoint for both P1a GCSE Physics and BTEC L2 Applied Science classes.
The powerpoint discusses the different types of energy, then leads into energy transformations and the law of conservation of energy.
Research project I gave for my low ability IGCSE maths group. Students need to research flags, and draw them using only transformations.
YouTube search 'Fun with flags&' clip from the TV show &';The Big Bang Theory' as a good 5 min intro the the project.
I use this activity with my middle ability year 9 group, but it can be adapted to other abilities.
I showed the YouTube video of the Brazuca ad first, as a quick intro. Then the students need to read through the National Geographic article on the Brazuca and attempt to answer the questions. The article and questions should take around 25 mins or so.
On the electronic copy of the article, the hyperlinks still work if you want to take it further.
Activity I do with my GCSE groups on size of doses from sources. I teach in Mexico so the word document mentions figures for Mexico (just change to UK!) Students can graph using Excel or by hand and then compare different doses of radiation.
The image is from the website xkcd and is public domain so can be reproduced. Its a big image and needs to be printed in A3 to be readable. If you cannot print it out the weblink is attached.
I really welcome feedback, on how I can improve this resource! Thanks!
Lesson slides for introducing atoms and the periodic table to middle ability KS3 students.
Worksheet for lesson slides is available here:

A collection of slides to help students revise the particle physics topics in Unit 1 of AQA Physics A.
They are a collection of my old university notes and materials I have developed on the following topics:
The Particle Zoo (Hadrons, Leptons etc)
Conservation Rules
Quarks
The Photoelectric Effect
One version is a printable PDF version, one is suitable for IWBs
Feedback is very welcome as I am recently qualfied teacher always looking to improve my resources (please be kind though!)
Introductory resource describing the features of the structure of the Earth. Suitable for topic 1 - Planet Earth (topic 1.3)
Includes lesson slides and worksheet.
