Year 5/6 Stories from the Silk Road plans

(2)
This English unit of work runs over 6 weeks and is based around the book ‘Stories from the Silk Road.’ It is the best way that I have found to enliven the topic ‘Islamic Civilisations’ and ensure that children learn deeply about it and this year, we taught it online, so it works well remotely. The plans include starters, main teaching, activities and differentiation, and I have uploaded all of the worksheets that I made to go alongside the unit. I can’t upload the smartboards due to copyright laws, so if you buy the unit and want these, leave me a comment with your email address and I can send them over to you.

Yr 5/6 Horror Stories based on Silverfin

(0)
Full set of planning for writing horror stories based on the graphic novel and the novel Silverfin (young bond) by Charlie Higson. Fully differentiated with starters that link to grammar and resources to go with the lessons. The unit explores the features, language and structure of horror stories using the text and then culminates in the children writing their own horror story using the first few pages of the graphic novel Silverfin. Especially great for getting reluctant boys engaged!

A medium term plan for learning about World War II. It includes full lesson plans; differentiation for greater depth and SEN children; learning objectives linked to the NC; activities for the children to do including cross-curricular writing and examples of resources, such as books and websites, that can be used in lessons to support learning. It runs alongside my RE unit about the Holocaust, which you can purchase from my author page. They could be put together as one big History unit.

Years 1-6 RE Christmas schemes of work

(0)
Each scheme of work has 3-5 lessons and they are all based around different big questions: Year 1 - Why is Christmas important to Christians? Year 2 - What are the Christian symbols of Christmas? Year 3 - Why are presents given at Christmas and what would Jesus think? Year 4 - How can artists help us to understand Christmas? Year 5 - Why is light an important sign at Christmas? Year 6 - What do the Gospels say about the birth of Jesus? Each unit builds upon the last, so the children build up the skills through AT1 and AT2 all the way to year 6 in which they are analysing the different Gospels. There are LIs, main input and main activities for each lesson.
