Here are my teaching slides to accompany week 3 resources for Year 1’s adventure, Fantastic Mr Fox. You will find cross curricular, differentiated slides including Cross Curricular Maths, Writing and Reading lessons. Used alongside my resources, there is a weeks worth of lessons here. These resources are aimed at a Year 1 cohort in September, mostly focusing on the Science objectives about the 5 senses and main body parts. There are also resources that cover Geography objectives (capital cities and counties in the UK), writing opportunities, whole class reading resources and music ideas.

Here are my teaching slides to accompany my Me, Myself and I resources that I delivered to my Year 1’s. Used alongside my resources, there is a weeks worth of lessons here. Continuous provision ideas are within the slides. I taught these sessions to Year 1 in the Autumn 1.

I have uploaded my 2 week Colour Poetry unit which includes SPaG, reading and writing lessons leading towards writing their own colour poem. Differentiation of tasks is evident. VIPERS reading sessions include explaination and retrieval, with some ‘stand alone’ reading lessons included away from the topic.

I have uploaded 5 History lessons (using the uploaded knowledge organiser) ranging from the monarchy now, what a king/queen does/did, why we remember Queen Victoria and the Victorians and how times have changed. The resources include some adaptations for GD children, picture evidence and writing activities. The History themes are also specifically mentioned through the lessons (covered as key questions). It also includes an end of unit assessment.

I have uploaded my child knowledge organiser with 6 lessons giving children an overall feel of the current monarchy and of Queen Victoria and the Victorians. Key information and pictures are on the knowledge organiser as well as previous knowledge for EY and Y1.

As part of our transition, I have created some resources to support KS1 children (my class has both year 1 and 2 children, so this acts as a refresher for the year 2’s and an introduction for the year 1’s) with the editing and enhancing process through the amazing ‘Here We Are’ book by Oliver Jeffers. My resources are simple and aim to support the children with the editing and enhacning skills they will be using throughout the years. This unit is only a mini unit (3 days worth of planning) but could easily be stretched out over a week. The resources including group, paired and independent work, as well as picture evidence sheets. I have uploaded my 2 week resources for Handa’s surprise, with the end outcome of the children writing a recount of Handa’s journey. This unit will suit all abilities of children within year 1 and 2, with lots of these resources already being differentiated. The resources include a reading text and 2 reading lessons (retrieval and sequencing), writing resources, word banks and structure strips. Supporting teaching slides are available

To match my Handa’s Surprise resources, I have uploaded my teaching slides. These include a 2 week unit journey with reading and writing lessons. The slides follow our school format for visuals, where we share the journey and success criteria (and prior knowledge), we then have a ‘My Turn’ slide where the teacher solely model/teach the skill, ‘Our Turn’ where the children join in and help me, ‘Your Turn’ where the children practise on their own so you can conduct AFL, followed by the tasks and a review/reflect.

We follow White Rose and so all content follows their timetable, with recaps. Maths questions include number, shape and addition/subtraction/multiplication/division skills, as well as varying other units. The pack includes 6 weeks worth of daily Fast Maths sheets (2 per page). Please note, some weeks only have 4 Fast Maths due to Bank Holidays!

The teaching slides are broken into 3 days, following our teaching process ‘My Turn’ which acts as sole teacher input/modelling, ‘Our Turn’ where the children help me practise the skill, and then ‘Your Turn’ where the children practise before completing the task. The slides also have an early morning welcome slide. The resources including group, paired and independent work, as well as picture evidence sheets.

Use these ‘starter’ activities to get your children used to answering a variety a maths questions in an arithmetic way. The questions are mostly designed to recap past learning of addition and subtraction within 20, including number sentences with missing numbers and using a number line.

I have resourced some activities that allow year 1 to develop their money understanding. The activities are differentiated and colour coded: B tasks (basic skills needed in red), A tasks (advancing/applying skills in orange) and D tasks (deep understanding in green). These are planned alongside the White Rose Scheme. I have also uploaded the pre/post assessment to match as a separate document, so these work alongside the resources.

I have uploaded my Year 1 Parent Workshop powerpoint that I used for Phonics Screening. It details when, how and what parents can do to support their child at home before the check. It also details alien and real words and why these are used in the test. Alongside this, I sent home a past paper for parents to use with their child.

I have uploaded the Parent Workshop powerpoint I delivered to my Year 2 parents at the end of the Spring Term. It ensures the parents know the expectations for all papers, with tips and tricks on how they can support at home. I also printed a past paper for each of the papers for the parents to take home and share with their child.
