I am a Science Teacher with 25 years experience and love producing resources. As one of my HoD's remarked "Your lesson plans and resources are outstanding, if only you could teach as good as your resources." Chemistry is my main subject, but have an interest in Pedagogy, especially CASE (Cognitive Acceleration through Science Education) and misconceptions and how to overcome them.

This KS4 Biology resource is a two lesson resource containing a ppt to take students all the way through the Osmosis Required Practical. It includes a student worksheet (blank one and one with model answers) and 9-1 graded exam style questions with model answers adapted from AQA past papers to test their learning. It is the complete package for the osmosis required practical.
This resource comes with:
32 ppt slide to project in lessons
Word and pdf versions of the students sheet and question sheets.
Answer sheets to allow the students to self or peer assess.
Each sheet assesses student’s skills in interpreting the data, remembering the Health and Safety and suggesting ways of improving the experiment. Key concepts covered are variables, types of errors, risk assessment etc Questions have been adapted from AQA past paper questions to help the students become familiar with the type and style of questions asked. Each question slide has Blooms Style Learning Objectives for whole class focused learning.
On the top right hand corner of the sheet the students can identify areas where they need to improve so that teachers can easily see which section they are having trouble with.

This is a Blooms taxonomy based around questions asked in Science lessons. It is aimed at KS3 and KS4. It has examples based on the States of Matter topic covering the hierarchy with examples of each for students to aim for. It can be used by students when answering questions or doing analysis.
It can be used as a place mat during lessons or enlarged for classroom display or included in Power points when doing a question in that style.
This is a booklet that students can complete at home about the science behind the corona virus (covid 19). Each page contains keywords, diagrams, explanations, questions and extension activities and now project activities such as research and making posters/leaflets. It explains the different types of microorganisms that cause disease and the effects on the body. It explains how our body fights disease caused by viruses (and bacteria) and how a drug/vaccine may be developed.
It is aimed at KS3 11-14 year olds, higher ability Y5 and 6 and lower ability KS4.
The document comes as a pdf for the students to download from your server, or as a ppt for you to make any changes or add any extra task sheets to keep our students learning during this time.

This resources consists of photographs and exam style questions with a completed graphic organiser helpsheet. This is aimed at AQA students to encourage them to practice exam style questions on required practicals anytime during the lesson.
The questions are specifically generic so they can be asked about almost any of the practicals and consequently they do not need to go next to any particular one, producing over 400 combinations of questions with images.
The questions are colour coded for different levels with Red-Hard, Orange-Medium and Green-Easier (one could say differentiated, but one would be stretching the truth).
Also included is the required practical placemat (worth a whole £1!) to help your students answer the questions on the display.
Suggestions for Activities:
I generally sit my students round the display and then ask them to chose a question and I (or another student) choose a practical or vice versa. Then we discuss the answer as a class or nominate another student or practical or question, (or stick them round my board and let the display soak into their minds through osmosis / diffusion or ask a question as a plenary)
The set of images and questions can be printed smaller and students and given to groups of students who turn them face down and turn two over, an image and a question, which they then answer. This game works well and makes the question and required practical more random (like the exam).
Font size is set at 80 pt so that it can be seen at about 10 feet away (Approx 72 pt per 10 ft of distance is the rule)

This booklet covers the Ecology topic at KS4, but maybe suitable for some KS3. It contains 15 pages where on each page is a keyword and definition, an image, example and some simple questions and a simple extension question.
It also contains a Power Point which circles key points to show the students where to look in their booklets and help them understand the ideas and processes.
Also included are two interactive activities, one on population changes in an ecosystem and one on land use and effects on food production.
These activities are simple, but challenge the student to give reasons for their choices.
This booklet also has project activities on each page for students to work on home at.
All the information is there in the booklet so that at the end they have a complete booklet to take home and hopefully revise from.
To see if this resource is for you, i have produced a free booklet on infection and response (with a focus on the Corona Virus) here:
