A story book to share. (Transport topic/ buses/ play) Jay-Jay the supersonic bus story, based on the original Playbus, this is another story about the Playbus adventures. The school holidays were a chance for the bus to offer play-scheme play opportunities. Over the summer, the Playbus would visit children around the town offering a safe place to play. Families, with children of all ages, would come along to explore and join in with the activities of the day. Gloria, named after one of the Gatwick Airport Airbear mascots, was certainly a popular attraction and children would look forward to her visits. The fictional tale of a Playbus.

The Christmas Play Rehearsal - story book - KS1 - Christmas Story

Christmas Story to share Have you ever been involved with the school Christmas production? If you have, I am sure you would understand some of the events in this story book. One year in particular the events leading up to the final performance were very challenging but it gave me the inspiration for the story. I wrote the story for the children who were the characters in the Christmas Play that year. We could certainly laugh about it afterwards. The Christmas play was always very hard work, with problems along the way, but certainly a lot of fun. Our final school performance ended up well in the end. With the right amount of, ‘Ahh!’ from the audience. I am sure many teachers and helpers will be able to relate to the events I this rehearsal. A bus is always included somewhere in my books, this was certainly a challenge with the Christmas play, but yes there is a bus.

Barty Barton : the Bear that was loved too much - story book

Barty Barton, is not about a bus! (Shhh! There is a bus included!) Barty was a favourite teddy bear and was always ready to give a hug whenever you might be worried. With all of his loving cuddles he was certainly in need of a few repairs. The story is about love and caring for our precious possessions and toys. You should never throw something away because it is old, tatty and no longer perfect. Being loved is so much more important. That would be the message for my bus stories too.

Sparky the Dragon bus - story book

Sparky the Dragon bus was a real bus which operated in Glasgow, Scotland. The bus supported children with disabilities and had a stair-lift fitted to enable users to access the top deck of the bus. The bus was the inspiration for the story of a little girl, who having designed Sparky’s beautiful exterior paintwork, finds she can join in because of her wheelchair disability. The message of Sparky was based on inclusion. The patron of the original Playbus project was The Princess Royal, Princess Anne, who once visited the bus.
