Hello. I've been teaching for 24 years and I'm still learning! I have become a primary maths specialist teacher (MaST) and NCETM accredited PD Lead, as well as long-time maths lead at my school. In September I started using the excellent White Rose Maths Small Steps and Guidance to plan maths for the Year 1 children at my school, along with the White Rose section on Craig Barton's brilliant Diagnostic Questions website. I share it in the hope that it will save you time. Thanks for looking.

Hello. This is my planning and resources to go with White Rose Maths for Year 2, Autumn Block 2, Addition and Subtraction, week 3. As this was about place value as much as addition and subtraction I found it quite involved and complex so my planning and supporting flips are even more detailed than usual in an effort to be clear. One of my mini-projects for my MA involved teaching an extended three week block on place value and representation with my now grown up Year 2 class. It was hugely effective at securing understanding of place value and I think this one can be too from the small steps and models White Rose have put together, but it is dense. You may find you need to run this over into the following week, but maybe not. I would love to hear how it works for you and your children. As always, the resources are word documents so you can edit them. There are also activprimary, smartboard and PDF flips, and an additional powerpoint flip for this week, just to see if it’s popular. I do hope you find this helpful and that you and your children enjoy them. Thank you.

A free set of big, proportioned Numicon shapes 1 - 10 with the 10 shape being A4 size. These can be ordered on a washing line, on the carpet in a circle, independently or at the front of the class with the children making a numicon number line. They can also be used for display or copied onto a smart notebook or activprimary flipchard. This is a word document to make it easier to adapt and more flexible. I have copied and stretched images of Numicon so many times I wanted this to be the final time! I thought I’d share in case it saves anyone else the work.
Hello, is my plan and resources to go with the White Rose Maths scheme of learning for Year 1, Block 2, addition and subtraction. As always, all the resources are in word so you can edit them. This was the first block I put on here last year and I planned four sessions a week as that is what we were doing at the time. As a result this whole block is spread over 5 weeks instead of the four it should be, which is why this is still free. I hope this saves you some time.
This is a timetable I’ve put together for my son’s February Year 8 exams with links to BBC bitesize revision links and others. I expect each school will teach the curriculum in their own order so this might not be relevant to anyone, but I’m sharing it in case it helps anyone out there.
