Challenge students to think deeply about the issues behind the Nazi regime and how they systematically stole the humanity away from so many people. There is also plenty of beauty in this movie as students explore the relationships between brave characters like Liesel, Max and Hans. Explore their character traits and how Liesel develops her literary skill. Finally, analyze the many sacrifices that were made in the story and determine which one would have been the hardest.
