Gothic literature is such a great way to engage pupils in reading analytically and evaluatively in fiction whilst enhancing their vocabulary. This workbook….is more of a bunch of lessons really! This is how I suggest using it: You will get (sample of all first lesson in the pictures): A 6 Chapter adaptation of Dracula, which has many gothic literary elements and vocabulary for analysis! A 24 Page workbook – 4 x pages of vocabulary and reading comprehension questions per chapter. The vocabulary question types move between, match definitions to meanings, synonyms and antonyms, fill the gaps, use in context and identify in context. Reading comprehension questions go between 5-6 per chapter and are focused on analytical and evaluative question types. An answer booklet with sample answers for all reading comprehension questions, plus answers for the relevant vocabulary answers. My suggestion is to work through this over 6 lessons – a chapter a lesson…the PERFECT mini-unit of work to lead up to Halloween!!!
