This unit of work has been created for key stage 3 students (best suited to Year 9) to consider into the question: Two world wars, or one with a 20-year ceasefire in the first part of the 20th century. It contains 10 lessons which build up to a creative and self-directed assessment in lesson 11, and a whole class quiz and individual word search for recap; competition and fun in the 12th lesson. The lessons are as follows: The end of WW1 The Paris Peace conferences The Treaty of Versailles Part 1 The Treaty of Versailles Part 2 Case Study - Mussolini Case Study - Hitler Case Study - Japanese militarism The failure of the League of Nations Appeasement The Nazi-Soviet Pact Self-directedassessment Competition time! Each lesson is fully resourced, and activities are varied and focused, and all feed into answering the enquiry question. This lesson has been created to work on maximising marks on the Whitechapel historic environment section of the EDEXCEL GCSE history crime and punishment breadth study. It goes through each part of the section using mark schemes and demonstrating model answers and addressing common mistakes. After each modeled answer. students are required to follow the techniques to answer questions on a different paper to the one modeled. The purpose is to work on avoiding traps that students fall into which costs them easy marks. There are also peer assessment opportunities. Duration: approx 90 minutes 30 slides
