Mr Hughes's One Stop Computing Science Shop

Average Rating3.40
(based on 5 reviews)

This is a shop that caters specifically to Computing Science teachers, and more specifically to the ones in the Scotland. All the S1-S3 CFE materials match up with the E's and O's and the benchmarks. The National 5 materials cater for the 2017/2018 updates . The Higher materials cover the practical and theoretical parts of the course. The Advanced Higher material again covers the theoretical side of the course as well as the practical, in a subject where materials are hard to come by.

Computing Science Curriculum for Excellence Computer Systems Unit

This is a Computer Systems Unit aimed at pupils during their BGE Computing Science Lessons. This can be used by any year group but I use it with S2. It links to both the E's & O's, the Significant Aspects of Learning and will also link to the new Benchmarks. I use the PowerPoint as an introduction and the pupils can work through the tasks at their own pace. It is a great booklet for differentiating between Level 3 and Level 4 pupils.

Practical Database Unit (Using Filemaker Pro) for pupils following the BGE course in Computing Science. This is a great precursor to the National 4 and 5 courses as it teaches them about various parts of those courses such as; Files, Tables and Fields Setting up a flat-file database. Creating a Form for outputting information Sorting a Database Searching a Database It meets both level 3 and 4 of the Experiences and Outcomes and the Significant Aspects of Learning and will link to the Benchmarks that are coming soon. I have found that pupils really enjoy working through this unit and it allows you to differentiate between level 3 and level 4 pupils.

New National 5 - Creating Relational databases and using SQL Queries in MS Access

This resource is a unit of that shows pupils how to create relational databases and query their database using SQL. This is a great way for pupils to get hands-on experience of SQL, which is an essential part of the new updated National 5 Database Design and Development (2017/18 onwards). I use this in conjunction with the PowerPoint that I also have available and the SQL examples used in the booklet match the ones in the PowerPoint.

This bundle completely covers the theory side of this part of the course as well as the practical side. It covers: Analysis Design Implementation Testing Evaluation. This has helped me deliver the course this year and it would massively help any teacher out who doesn't have the time to create resources. I have also included a Database unit that can be used as part of your BGE in S1-S3.

Multimedia Unit for pupils following the BGE course in Computing Science. This is a great precursor to the National 4 and 5 courses as it teaches them about various parts of those courses such as, Data and Information and Standard File formats for Text, Graphics, Sound and Video. It meets both level 3 and 4 of the Experiences and Outcomes and the Significant Aspects of Learning and will link to the Benchmarks that are coming soon.
