This lesson aims to introduce several filming techniques to A Level students in order to prepare them to analyse and comment on a director’s style, in essays.
Each plan / filming technique is illustrated with photos, gifs and videos, and all of them have thorough comments in the speaker notes, at the bottom of each slide. Each example comes from famous films and emphasises on the wanted effect on spectators.
I am teaching “La Haine” so I also added some slides on how to observe and justify those techniques in the film that we are studying. However, those activities are very easily transferrable to any other film suggested by any exam boards.
