Year 2 money - identifying coins and notes, pounds and pence

(14)
Here's some worksheets and an Activ inspire flipchart for a unit of money that we taught in Year 2. I've included a PDF version of the chart also. It meets these curriculum objectives:

- recognise and use symbols for pounds (£) and pence (p); combine amounts to make
a particular value
- find different combinations of coins that equal the same amounts of money

Hope it helps!

Year 4/KS2 Maths Investigation - Place Value and Ascending Order

(2)
This is a maths investigation for KS2. They will need to find the smallest number they can make with 4 digits, and then the biggest number. Then all of the numbers in between in ascending order. They will need to be able to order and compare numbers, know their place value and then work systematically to find all of the combinations of numbers. This has worked well with a Year 4 class I tried it on. Includes recording sheet and challenge cards to ensure mastery.

Geography compass points/orienteering challenge for KS2

Here is a set of challenges for teaching orienteering and compass points. Lay the letters down on the floor in the locations as specified in the map document. I used whiteboards with the letters on to do this. Then, add a challenge at each letter. Some suggested challenges are included. Each group will receive a set of instructions to navigate their way around. It’s simple and fun! A classroom activity is included as well. Please leave a review if you enjoyed it, I’d love to know how you got on!

KS2 Christmas poetry - The Christmas Collector

This is a poem I have adapted from Robert McGough's The Sound Collector - it is intended to be used for Year 4 as a model of excellence to inspire children to write their own poems. It includes fronted adverbials, modifying adjectives and will cover the reading objective for reciting poetry. I hope you like it!

I noticed a lot of misinformation around COVID-19 amongst our post-16 student intake. I put this together not to preach or tell everyone how to behave or to get the vaccine, but just to give them simple fact-based information around the virus in order for them to inform their own decisions.
