The latest in the new series of PowerPoint resources aimed at assisting teachers with the delivery of the WJEC/Eduqas A-level Business specification but this material is suitable for all boards. These slides and hand out are designed to support the delivery of the Component One topic of business structures. They explain what is meant by the private and the public sector and look at the different aims and objectives of each. This includes a consideration of public goods, merit goods and the free rider problem, as well as outlining the wider private sector objectives of survival, growth and profit maximisation. The slides then explain the legal structures of different private sector organisations including sole traders, partnerships, private and public limited companies and examine the concepts of unlimited and limited liability. Finally they explain and evaluate the main feature of not-for-profit organisations such as co-operatives, charities and social enterprises and the importance and impact of the legal structure for the various stakeholders of a business. The slides contain the Quick Fire Five questions and also a practice essay (with suggested solutions). In addition to the main PowerPoint a PDF copy of the notes has been provided to assist with pupil hand outs.
