This is a heart-warming Sensory Easter story. It is interactive with loads of fun and action and will get everyone on their feet or moving and dancing at some point. It focuses on the Easter story and basically follows the journey of Jesus to the cross. It incorporates lively music, parachutes, scarves, some communication aids or sound effects, smells, a variety of tactile materials (chicks, lambs, Easter eggs, the cross) associated with the season. The story Is most suitable for preschoolers, lower primary age pupils (in both Special and mainstream school settings) but can be adjusted to suit older pupils as well. I used it for 6 pupils with Complex Learning Difficulties and they enjoyed it and we ended up having a mini performance/showcase. Most of the resources are everyday resources used in class. Pound land or the dollar store is great for getting additional resources.
Although it is a Religious story, the story has cross cutting themes. It has aspects of literacy, numeracy, health and wellbeing, expressive arts, environmental and social studies strands culled from the Curriculum for Excellence learning experiences and outcomes
I have also provided some follow-up activities
