This is a 22-slide PowerPoint which covers the 1st of 3 parts which make up Learning Aim D of Unit 1 (Exploring Business). This is D1 - Different Market Structures.

Teachers will be required to do no other work. These PowerPoints include questions and activities as well as videos and they have been written by a BTEC Moderator and used with hundreds of students across the years.

There is about 90 minutes worth of teaching in this PowerPoint.

The PowerPoint covers various market structures, including perfect competition, imperfect competition, monopoly, oligopoly, and monopolistic competition. It explains the features and characteristics of each market structure, such as the number of firms, freedom of entry and exit, nature of products, and the degree of competition.

Perfect Competition: This market structure is characterized by a large number of producers.

Imperfect Competition: This type of market structure exhibits some but not all elements of perfect competition.

Monopoly: A monopoly exists when one firm dominates the market.

Oligopoly: An oligopoly exists where there are only a few firms in the market.
Monopolistic Competition: This market structure has many firms selling differentiated products.

The presentation also discusses barriers to entry, product differentiation, and provides examples of different market structures.
