This QUAD continues on from Lesson 1-4 on Media language and looks at:

-Facts about disability
-Definitions/ clarification on disability, ableism, able-bodied and the Equality Act 2010.
-How the mediation of the ‘Super.Human’ campaign has changed since 2012.
-Zeitgeist and wider social commentary
-The damaging stereotype of the ‘Super-crip’ in mainstream media.
-Misrepresentation and underrepresentation
-Hegemony and maligned ideologies
-Tokenism
-Marginalization
-CHANNEL 4 Paralympics media pack task/ fact gathering
-Selection and combination/ omission
-5/6 application of the Representational frameworks.

To conclude, work together in pairs to plan a response to the adapted SAMS 2017 question below. Use all that we have covered today and apply it to the unseen text.

-Compare how audiences are positioned by the representations in this Save The
Children advertisement and the Super. Human advertisement you have studied.
In your answer you must:

• consider how the representations construct versions of reality

• consider the similarities and differences in how audiences are positioned by
the representation

make judgements and draw conclusions about how far the representations
relate to relevant media contexts. [30]

Whilst I have embedded a variety of videos, due to blocks on school accounts/ restrictions, if they do not **work, please see the links in the notes section of each slide.

The power point also includes theoretical framework slides at the end of the power point to aid differentiation/ scaffolding etc.
