I recently produced this for an interview where I had 25 minutes to teach writing skills on the topic of my choice.
I introduced it as a shop window saying that in order to succeed that had to put their best language in the display. It’s no go leaving the good stuff in the backroom and then complaining because you are unsuccessful. We had a quick run through categories such as connectives , opinions etc. Then I gave them a sheet that I can only describe as double translation so that at the end of the exercises they would have ‘what a good one looks like’.
I let them struggle for a while and then put up slide 5 which has the missing language. I would have let them struggle a bit longer but i only had 25 minutes
