Practice: Uses of the preterit

Part 1: Clue words matching: Write the correct letter of the translation for each clue word. (24 total)

Example:

n. last winter / x. yesterday

Part 2: Uses of the preterit: For each sentence, write the correct conjugation of the verb in the preterit. Make stem and spelling changes where needed.

*6 uses included. Each use of the preterit will have between 2-6 sentences.

Sample:

Use #1: A single completed action in the preterit (6 sentences)

1. Yo ________________ con mi amigo. (hablar)

2. Tú ________________ una pizza. (comer)

Use #2: A series of completed actions. (2 sentences)

Use #3: An action that occurred during a specific time period. (2 sentences)

Use #4: An action that occurred a specific number of times. (3 sentences)

Use #5: To indicate the start and end of an action. (2 sentences)

Use #6: An action that interrupts an on-going action. (4 sentences)
