Short and long vowel families a, e, i, o and u

Meet all the graphemes for KS1 that make the long and short vowel sounds for a, e, i, o and u. All the CEW for year 1 and year 2 with these phonemes in are included as well as spelling rules which apply from English appendix 1. The powerpoints are designed to be used across year groups depending on your phonics teaching. It contains at least a weeks worth of phonics teaching. Each character tells you about its grapheme and uses sounds spots to support reading and spelling. Once children are familiar with the family they can explore best bet rules and then apply their learning by using the dictated sentences also within the powerpoint. Two copies of each are included, one which uses my preferred font of Letterjoin and one with comic sans.
