I wanted to show pupils that they don't learn vocabulary in isolation and can use prior knowledge to start making more interesting dialogues.
When they had trouble (yr8) with remembering tengo que etc from the grid on slide 5, I got them to make little cards in yellow, pink and white for each column. They put English on one side and Spanish on the other. They laid out the yellow, pink and white cards with English facing and I gave them the sentence, they turned over the cards and were able to give me the sentence. They kept the cards as a revision aid.
