In this resource you have a skeleton scheme of work, a pupil work booklet, link to a listening resource and an essential knowledge and vocabulary sheet.
I current use this as my introduction to year 8 as it builds on the knowlegde of ensemble performance from year 7 and develops pupils knowledge of structure. It also introduces them to popular song composition using loops to prepare them for a full songwriting unit in year 9.
There is no ‘powerpoint’ for this unit as I simply display the pupil booklet, reducing cognitive overload and ensuring that what is on the screen matches what is in front of the pupil.
This unit of work is designed to last 9 weeks and is based around Cubase but could be adapted for any DAW which has loops.
