At the end of the story, the children leave the store with a box. All we can see are two eyes. We are left to wonder What Pet Did They Get?
This guessing game is set up to answer that question. It does so as follows:
Students are given 3 clues to guess What Pet Did They Get?
There is a pet hiding under the box.
Once the students read the 3 clues, they guess. There is a textbox set up on the bottom of each task card. Students guess and then remove the box to see what pet is hiding behind it.
The next task card has the students answer 3 questions about the pet (see below)

This is a great craft for students to complete for Remembrance Day in Canada - some of the templates mention Canada, Flanders Fields, etc.
This craft has two main components:
- A base (made out of one piece of paper, 8 1/2 x 14) There are 2 base templates to choose from.
- POP-UPs - 9 options to choose from, including male and female representation, graphics for Army, Navy, Marines, Air Force. On the back of each POP-UP is a simple writing activity.

Two really fun options for your students to create a Back To School Backpack
Option #1 - Use all of the templates provided and students will craft their own backpacks.
Option #2 - Begin with a paper bag and use the templates provided to create a paper bag backpack.
Both great options ... you decide which is a better option for your students.
There are many options for writing activities included:
- on the straps
- on the front cover
- a secret pocket which students complete inserts and drop into the pocket
- 5 interactive templates created so you can have students tell you more about themselves, what makes them happy, what they are good at, a little about their family, a goal for the year, find someone who ... likes/can/wants to etc.
- have used graphics for boys and for girls
What you need:
Paper (light cardstock would be extra special), coloring pencils, glue, paper bags (if that is the option you choose)
I have included step by step directions and visuals to assist you in assembling these backpacks.

Look at the video and decide which backpack is better suited for your students - the paper bag backpack for the little ones, the regular backpack for students in the older grades.
