Starter is assessing prior knowledge/previous learning of key words (biodiversity, species, ecosystem and habitat). I made this as a revision sheet for my year 10s. They preferred using colours to colour coordinate the glands and hormones as all the lines can get pretty messy. The more able students were capable of doing the majority whereas the lesser able used their books and a textbook to complete it.

Command words for answering exam questions in AQA Biology A level. Taken from the AQA website and put into a table to condense it. I give this to my year 12/13 students to help them to understand what the question is fully asking and to get more marks.
