The Tyger Classic Poetry English Plans

A 5 day plan for classic poetry based on the poem The Tyger by William Blake. This has originally be used with a Year 5 class (9-10 year olds) but could be adapted for other ages. It introduces the poem to the children in an accessible way and then encourages short and longer writing opportunities. All resources are included as well as an annotated version of the poem to analyse the language and structure.

A non-chronological report about a new mythical dragon called the Frost Dragon which can be used for Talk for Writing to learn the structure or annotated to mark the features. Also included is a letter from the Dragon Hunters Association asking the children to create their own reports about the Shrek Dragon. You can edit the letter to change the dragon you want them to write about and add your class name as the recipient. I used this with Year 2 children and have included two differentiated writing templates to assist in the writing process. All images are taken from wp clipart and are free from copyright.
