Lovely lesson to introduce students to Spain. I usually use this at the start of each term with my students. It's nice to watch them discover all bout the culture and the language by themselves. I encourage them to research all about festivals & food. I generally find it is a lesson that they talk about and use as a frame of reference later on in the year.

Writing a 'Post Card' in Irish is an integral part of the Junior Certificate (GCSE) exam. This PowerPoint contains absolutely everything a student needs in order to be able to answer that question and obtain full marks. The ppt. is divided into sections with all possible variables that could be asked for catered for. There is a translation exercise at the end to check for learning and also two examples of past exam papers done for the students. Simple display for days of the week in Spanish. I have a space on the top right hand corner of my board where the day and month are switched everyday. ( I am no longer asked. 'Miss whats the date?' twenty times a day!) Enjoy:)

Simple display cards to get your room and your students in the festive Easter spirit. My students love Easter! (It must be the chocolate!) and the display is nice when surrounded by students work. Alternatively use the activity attached also. I use these as a game first to introduce the vocabulary to my students. They are placed around my room and students are given a list of Easter vocabulary in English. They then have to find the Spanish equivalent. It's nice to watch students discover the vocabulary themselves as opposed to looking at a PowerPoint and writing everything down in a vocabulary book. This wee booklet is good for vocabulary acquisition. Rather than giving students list of vocabulary and getting them to use it or just learn it, I like to scaffold for my less able pupils. I generally find with these tasks their retention is better. I then use these.
