Ideal for Year 6 Revision! This power point presentation introduces the step by step process of adding and subtracting fractions with the same and then with different denominators. It also demonstrates how to add and subtract mixed numbers and improper fractions. Key vocabulary is revised and there are revision pages on equivalent fractions, simplifying fractions and converting mixed numbers and improper fractions. At each stage of revision or new learning, there are opportunities for children to discuss and practice skills and knowledge and explain their reasoning. Word problems included towards the end of the presentation and to assess learning, children are prompted to spot mistakes in fraction calculations. The final page encourages self evaluation. The presentation contains a contents page with hyperlinks to different pages, allowing the opportunity to skip or revise objectives as required. The presentation is intended to be used as a whole lesson - or over a series of lessons - where talk and practice are encouraged in order to consolidate and revise skills before moving learning on. This powerpoint revises the rules for changing direct speech to reported speech and vice versa. The focus is on what changes i.e. inverted commas, pronouns and verb tenses. This is ideal for introducing the names of different verb tenses to Years 5 and 6 and gives the opportunity for pupils to practice changing speech from direct to reported as well as identifying the verb tenses. Some of the example sentences are based on the book 'Street Child' and the resource was created as part of a unit writing a newspaper report. However - it can be used as a stand alone lesson.
