Belonging to a community KS1 PSHE lesson. A one-two hour long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS1. This lesson has been created for Year 2, however, the contents may also suit younger students in KS2 (Year 3).
In this lesson, the students will be discussing what it means to belong to a community. We will look at a variety of groups that people can belong to and reflect on the way that we know we belong. We will identify the groups that we belong to, and any associated roles that we may have within these groups.
In our main task, we will take a detailed look at how we can make our community welcoming and inclusive to all groups, in particular, families who are refugees. We will read Kate Milner’s story ‘My Name is Not Refugee’ and complete accompanying tasks to reflect on the message behind the story.
The lesson includes a starter activity, a discussion task, a video clip with questions, a main activity and a plenary. Created to fit the new DfE and PSHE Association statutory 2020 /21 guidelines, the lesson includes a detailed PowerPoint, all editable with accompanying tasks and worksheets.

Primary PSHE Gender stereotypes KS2 PSHE Lesson. A one hour-long, very detailed, fully resourced PSHE lesson suitable for KS2. In this lesson, the students will explore gender stereotypes and the negative impact that they can have on a person’s career. We will look at some examples of positive and negative stereotypes and discuss how these ideas can lead to people being treated unfairly. We will look at the experiences of women in STEM, with a particular focus on the mistreatment of female scientists throughout history. We will then discuss different ways that we can challenge gender stereotypes and ways that we can celebrate the achievements of women. 2 HOURS, fully resourced PSHE lesson all about role models, current social media influencers and the positive and negative influence they can have. The lesson follows a girl called Shelly, who wants to look like her idols, the Kardashians, before investigating more thoroughly the link between role models and self-esteem. A large part of the lesson investigates the lack of positive role models for young people in the media and sets students the challenge of establishing what makes a positive role model, before researching whether they can find celebs and public figures that meet their criteria.

A detailed and well differentiated lesson which covers both content for Edexcel Citizenship GCSE 9-1 - Theme B ‘Democracy at Work’ (the Constitution) and also ‘Law and Justice’ (the Justice system in England and Wales) - Theme C. This lesson focuses on the roles and powers of the police as well as the different roles within the police. It also covers the structure of the force, as well as how it fits within the wider justice system.
