The purpose of this unit of work is two write two contrasting descriptive narratives (using the pictures in the text as stimulus). Children will learn how to write figuratively, using linguistic devices to ‘show not tell’ the reader what they can see in the scene. They will explore, simile, metaphor, alliteration, pathetic fallacy (HA) and personification. They will also the character of Rose through hot seating activities and they will explore the themes of the book using the front cover as inference.
