Esio Trot reading comprehension (10 pages per session)

I have used this resource with my year 2 group of Expected/Working At and Greater Depth/Working Above readers to introduce them to reading chapter books. The children have really enjoyed the tasks. The children call this their ‘selfie questions’ as they answer them independently after reading in pairs. This resource contains planning for the entire book. Each session is based on 10 pages from the book. The questions cover a range of different types including retrieval, inference, prediction and clarification and each ‘selfie’ sheet has two extension tasks. This resource pack also includes my introduction lesson where the children use their prediction skills to explain what they thought the story would include, a recount of the story lesson and the summary lesson after completing the book to create their own book review. This is a resource which could also be used with Year 3 readers as well

Year 1 Vesak and Buddhism Assembly Script

This is a fun RE assembly for year 1 in the spring term. It has a catchy song (with youtube links). It covers, what is buddhism, what is Vesak, how people celebrate Vesak and the life of Buddha. It has a poem written by children as well. There are so many opportunities for fun acting and miming in this script too depending on the ability of your class. Hopefully it saves you some time for planning your own assemblies

EYFS and SEND Widgit Toilet sign

(0)
This is a resource I use often with EYFS and SEND children who need support with waiting for their turn for the toilet. This toilet sign is designed for young children aged 3-6 or for SEND children who can’t read or respond to written language. Promotes healthy hygiene habits and personal boundaries in a child-friendly and interactive format. Suitable for diverse educational settings, including preschools, special needs programs, and homeschooling. Enhances learning through engaging widgets and clear, age-appropriate language. Reinforces the importance of good hygiene, privacy and safety in today’s world. If this resource was helpful for you please rate and review.
