Differentiated example non-chronological texts about the four seasons, plus feature find sheet, planning template and display images.

Pupils read the model information text about the four seasons (winter, spring, summer and autumn), and then find the expanded noun phrases and conjunctions in the text. Next they plan their own non-chronological report using the planning template. They are then ready to write their own reports!
In the texts, the following features of each season are mentioned: the weather, trees, clothes and other relevant details. The model texts contain a variety of expanded noun phrases and co-ordinating and subordinating conjunctions.

This exemplar text is perfect to use as a WAGOLL after reading chapters 5 and 6 of Michelle Magorian’s historical World War Two novel. The diary entry, written from evacuee Zach’s perspective, recounts the day when he speaks to protagonist Willie for the very first time.

Example newspaper report based on the historical fiction novel Carrie’s War by Nina Bawden.
This exemplar newspaper article is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying this World War Two evacuation story. The example text reports on the fire at Druid’s Bottom and is ideal to be used after reading the novel.
The model newspaper report comes with two feature identification worksheets for children to fill in, one for layout features and one for language and grammar features, plus answer sheets.
After reading the exemplar text and finding its features, pupils use the templates provided to plan and write their own newspaper report based on the example text. This exemplar playscript is perfect to use as a WAGOLL when studying Chapter 18 of The Silver Sword when Edek is in court for a crime committed by Jan.
The model playscript comes with a feature identification worksheet for children to complete, plus an answer sheet for easy marking.
