A rhetorical question is a question asked in order to create a dramatic effect or to make a point rather than to get an answer. It is a literary device often used to persuade the audience. Two activities involving identifying correct and incorrect use of colons. Pupils must look carefully at the sentences to check if the colons have been put in the correct place for a variety of sentences. There are two activities provided: Colon Cards/Quiz: pupils sort the cards into correct and incorrect piles. Great for paired or small group work.
