This fun and engaging review game is the perfect way to review your Holes novel study. I typically put the class into small groups and ask a member of the group to choose a color and number. That is the question that they have to answer. If correct they get one point. Then I move to the next group. Alternatively the whole class answers and then we tally up the points to get a winner. I run it on an interactive whiteboard but would be equally successful on a projector, computer or TV screen. When you start the game press the shuffle button to randomize the questions ensuring that no game is ever the same. This means that this Holes Jeopardy game came be used multiple times with the one class. Once you have unzipped the file you will find a PowerPoint Macro Show. To run the game double click the file and make sure you say "yes" to running macros. If you do not the questions will not shuffle correctly. I have tested on a PC but it should work on other devices. STEM Flying Straw: A Science and Engineering Challenge. This science and engineering challenge will challenge students what flight looks like.The lesson begins with a technology challenge to construct a paper plane with the materials given and then leads into the science lesson. This challenge looks at speed, direction, size and types of wings. This pack contains everything you need (except straws). All you need to do is print it off and you are up and running. It can be used as either a group activity or individual. I usually do it as a group as then you can allocate members various roles within the group. With this resource students will be able to demonstrate their mastery and understanding of measuring in both centimeters and meters. There are 20 sorting cards for students to place and group with the most appropriate measurement. Students can either put the cards in a group together or record their findings on the recording sheet. If you would like the students to self mark, I have also included a marking sheet. Math Multiplication Web also known as Multiplication Circles Makes multiplying facts 1- 12 fun. Included are the webs or both multiplication and division from 1 through to 12. The Multiplication Web reinforces the rule of multiplication with added multiplication practice by completing the multiplication web. Mu torere is said to be the only native board game of the Maori. It is played on the points and centre of an 8-pointed star, by two players with four pieces each. The object of the game is to block your opponent so they cannot move. Mu Torere is the perfect game to celebrate Matariki, or Waitangi Day, especially if it is raining. I also put the boards in my math game area for my math rotations and early finishers. I have included 2 different game boards. First ,the traditional star board and the other being more of a wheel design (My students seem to prefer this one) Further I have included some counters for it (Or just use your plastic ones).
