ANGLAIS ESL EFL ENGLISH FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS ENGLISH FOR CHILDREN ENGLISH ANIMALS VOCABULARY CARDS learn a range of animals, and help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of looking at the indefinite article in English, and comparing the concept of gender in both languages too.
It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with English, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in English. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators.
There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games:
Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in English, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in English.
Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall
Deck 3: word-only cards in English, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling.
Deck 4: word-only cards in French, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall
Deck 5: both English & French words on a single card, useful for close comparison of language, and recognition of corresponding words
Laminate the cards if you can, even though it’s extra prep and expense, as they are far-more learner-friendly, and last for years, so it’s definitely worth it. I have a set with decks on different colour paper: although it can reduce challenge in games, for absolute beginners it’s very useful, and also ensures learners with additional needs have extra support so that they can participate fully in the games and activities. Remember to vary the decks in the games to ensure maximum differentiation and challenge.

There are two questions: Che ora è? (1 o’clock, 5 past one etc) / Che ore sono? with a particular clock face, and students write the response on their recording sheet or in their workbooks. The second question is Vero o falso? and students write either vero or falso - where the answer is falso, remind students to write the correct time for additional consolidation.

GCSE FRENCH KS3 FRENCH KS4 FRENCH REFLEXIVE VERBS PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION 25 high-frequency reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. French reflexive verbs can be quite tricky, particularly for students whose first language does not have a similar reflexive verb group.
Though the workbook focuses solely on the correct conjugation of verbs, and does not look at word order in the context of full sentences, there are fixed conjugation patterns that students can learn, recognize and apply, ensuring that their spoken and written French is accurate, and that their understanding of French across the skills of***listening, speaking, reading and writing*** is robust. Students become very familiar and confident the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations certainly help to embed that successfully.
The resource has the following structure:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.

The questions are aimed at advanced beginner French into***intermediate French*** students, and have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. The questions are all in French, and are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. There may be some vocabulary and grammar that students are not yet familiar with, and these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language. This means that the activity is not solely about practising and consolidating learned language, but also actively engaging with, and learning, new language. A range of grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects and question format in French.
There are translation questions from both French into English and English into French. This introduces students to the concept of translation from a very early point in their French learning programme.

These Italian conversation cards are perfect for developing Italian speaking skills - there are 100 question and answer cards and a reference book focusing on beginning conversation. They’re also great for multi-skill language learning - they give students structured talk opportunities and will also get them listening, reading and writing. They’re ideal for independent learning, and perfect for pair and small-group work - my students frequently select the speaking and writing cards for their free-choice learning activity. The prompt cards feature language and structures that your students are likely to meet in the beginning and more intermediate stages of their Italian learning, including a range of tenses. They’re also useful for GCSE Italian revision.
The reference book includes all the questions and answers written out in Italian. Students find it a very useful learning support resources and it’s also handy for whole-group pronunciation and reading-out loud practice. Students use the Notes and Next Steps template to reflect on their learning, and think about what they might reasonably do to progress in their learning - we use this to guide and inform discussions we have as a whole-group about where students think they are at the moment, and what they think they might like to work a little more on. They also note ideas for creating their own questions, and any new vocab or structures they might learn.
The question and answer card writing templates give students the opportunity to apply their Italian very practically, as they create both questions and answers for each other, using the reference book as a form of writing frame to help them form their language correctly. This is a great team activity too. We also use the cards for a whole range of games, and I’ve described how to play several you can start with that work really well for us.

These challenge cards focus on conjugating***regular German verbs in the present tense.*** They are aimed at upper KS3 German and KS4 German students. The differentiated questions have a multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling in German in general, and certainly in conjugating regular German verbs in the present tense in particular.
The questions range in complexity and challenge, and some call upon prior and new knowledge too, helping students make links and build bridges in their learning. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with - these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and word order in German.

German separable verbs can be quite a challenging concept for English-speaking German learners, and focused practice really helps them consolidate their understanding of how to conjugate them accurately, particularly the location of the separable prefix at the end of the clause , and the various contexts in which the prefix is not separated, such as with subordinating conjunctions and modal verbs.
The questions are all in German, and are differentiated, ranging in complexity and challenge. There may be some vocabulary that students are not familiar with: these questions give them the opportunity to learn and apply new language too. KS3 FRENCH GCSE FRENCH KS4 FRENCH REFLEXIVE VERBS PRESENT TENSE CONJUGATION 25 high-frequency reflexive verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys. This ten-page workbook is really popular with my students - they like to work independently, practising and revising how to conjugate French reflexive verbs - they can be quite tricky, particularly for students whose first language does not have a similar reflexive verb group. The workbook focuses on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, though it’s definitely useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Students do often try to conflate what they know about conjugation, with those with English as a first language for example frequently say je suis me brosser for I am brushing or similarly je fais me brosser for I do brush. There is the additional issue of the relevant reflexive pronoun, and its location in relation to the subject pronoun and verb. I’ve found that this kind of conjugation drills workbook really helps students to recognize and predict conjugation patterns.
The resource is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: French-English and English-French.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in French across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in French, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding French verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps template which students visit regularly - it really does encourage them to think about where they are now, how confident they feel, and what they might need to work on a little more to be absolutely sure of their conjugation skills.

FRENCH FOR CHILDREN PRIMARY FRENCH KS3 FRENCH ANIMALS VOCABULARY CARDS perfect for young learners of French and an ideal introduction to the animal kingdom in French. They provide lots of opportunities to learn a range of animals, both***masculine and feminine***, and really do help to create a lively language learning environment. Children can develop their skills in word recognition and recall, pronunciation, speaking, listening and reading in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. They’re a great way of introducing the concept of gender, and of looking at the indefinite article in French too.
It doesn’t matter is any of the animals don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the card games encourage children to engage happily and confidently with French, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French. They also help learners begin to work out the meaning of unknown words using both visual clues and prompts, as well as linguistic indicators.
There are 24 animals featured, across a series of decks, which enable you to vary and differentiate your games:
Deck 1: picture and words cards, with both an image of, and the word for, the animal in French, which is useful for multi-skill learning, particularly in the introductory phase of learning animal vocabulary, and for familiarising students with the written word in French.
Deck 2: picture-only cards, useful for vocabulary recall
Deck 3: word-only cards in French, useful for word recognition, reading and spelling.
Deck 4: word-only cards in English, useful for a variety of games focusing on vocabulary recall
