GCSE GERMAN KS3 GERMAN KS4 GERMAN HIGH-FREQUENCY GERMAN VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE This workbook focuses on 25 high-frequency verbs in the perfect tense. I’ve used these ‘quick conjugations’ for many years with my German students. My students find them to be a great way of practising, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate essential verbs in German. I’ve used them in a range of contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for cover lessons. I tend to give my students regular opportunities to practise the conjugations during the whole schools year, and they find this really useful for mapping their own progress and developing their overall understanding of how German conjugation ‘works’.
I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the German perfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the present tense - there are verbs that require either haben or sein, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation, and these quick conjugations will certainly help to embed that successfully.
The workbook is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German-English and English-German
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in German across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in German.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes & Next Steps template, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets.
answer key which helps students develop more independence in their learning, also providing them with an additional opportunity to engage with the target language

GCSE GERMAN ALEVEL GERMAN KS5 GERMAN PLUPERFECT TENSE 25 high-frequency German reflexive verbs, including a selection of some not essentially reflexive, such as sich kaufen to practise the dative reflexive pronoun, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated conjugation challenges, answer key & verbs lists, ideal for advanced KS4 German and KS5 German students who have a sound baseline understanding of conjugation and tense in German, are working regularly with the notion of past tense in German, and distinguishing between verbs that are conjugated with either haben or sein in the perfect and pluperfect tense. It’s actually really useful to introduce the pluperfect tense in German fairly closely with the perfect tense, as the patterns are identical, other than the auxiliary tense, and it allows students to compare and contrast the tenses, and to practise both fairly simultaneously - in my experience, students do not confuse or mix up the tenses when they’re learning and using them together.
The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. For example with the pluperfect tense, students need to have a good grasp of the relevant auxiliary in the, and to get used to ensuring that the past participle is situated at the end of the clause or sentence. Forming the past participle of a whole range of verb groups follows a certain pattern, which students are able to identify and predict the more they work with conjugation.

GCSE SPANISH KS3 SPANISH KS4 SPANISH PERFECT TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for KS3 Spanish students who are beginning to work with more complex language, and generally developing their knowledge and understanding of conjugation and tense in Spanish. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
Though the workbooks focus on formation and conjugation, rather than usage, I still find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb formation and conjugation. Language learners often conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students withEnglish as a first language sometimes confuse the use of tener instead of haber as the auxiliary. Students do need to to have a good grasp of the auxiliary verb haber in the present tense to ensure that they can form the perfect tense accurately. There are certain differences in usage in the perfect tense in Spanish and English, which we also talk about quite a lot when we’re using the workbooks.
The resource is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too
Three differentiated conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Spanish across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Spanish, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in Spanish.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Spanish verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from a Spanish prompt.

GCSE SPANISH KS4 SPANISH KS3 SPANISH PRETERITE TENSE AR VERBS CONJUGATION PRACTICE 25 high-frequency Spanish AR verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys ideal for advanced beginner Spanish moving into intermediate Spanish students who feel comfortable working with longer and more complex texts, which include a range of tenses. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom.
The workbook focuses on the correct conjugation of verbs, rather than usage, but I definitely find it useful to remind students of a number of things when focusing on or revising tense and verb conjugation. Language learners tend to conflate what they know about grammar in their first language with the grammar of the language they are learning. For example, students with English as a first language frequently confuse the preterite tense with the imperfect tense when they are conjugating them, as well as when and how to use either tense.
The resource is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Spanish-English and English-Spanish, useful for longer-term reference too

GCSE GERMAN KS4 GERMAN KS5 GERMAN VERBS 500 high-frequency German verbs, listed alphabetically both German-English and English-German - a great learning support resource for KS4 German moving into advanced German A Level learners, and can also be given to KS3 German students, providing verb audit tool, and a language road map with learning goals, outlining the verbs they should ideally know by a specific stage in their learning.
I create a lot of language learning reference books for my languages students, they’re really popular with my students, who like to have a bank of reference resources for both initial learning and longer-term revision. There are 42 pages in the book, and all 500 verbs are listed alphabetically German-English and English-German. Each German verb is indicated by irr; sein; sep for example, to denote irregular, conjugated with sein, separable. I use the reference book for quick vocabulary quizzes too - either I or a nominated student shouts out a German or English verb, with teams giving the corresponding German or English verb - I’ve found this is a really successful way of avoiding more formal vocabulary tests, while still providing students with frequent opportunity to refresh and embed essential German vocabulary.
For UK teachers, these are roughly GCSE / Standard / age 16 examinations moving into advanced level, all examination boards (AQA, Edexcel, Eduqas, SQA).
We use the Notes and Next Steps template to think about progress and vocabulary knowledge. Students find this really useful, and do like to map and track their own progress. It can be helpful in guiding and informing whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really useful learning activity too - students also note down any new German verbs they learn, enabling them to build a really comprehensive verb vocabulary reference resource.
The verbs are useful for engaging with the following topics and themes:
youth, identity & lifestyle
fashion
culture, customs and traditions
relationships and family
technology and social media
sport, health and fitness
free time, hobbies and interests
entertainment and leisure
food and drink
Germany and German-speaking countries
local, national & international global areas of interest
transport
holidays, tourism and travel
environment, pollution, recycling and climate
social issues
school, college, current and future study
work experience, skills and personal qualities
employment, ambitions and career plans

PERFECT FOR CREATING AN INSTANT INTRODUCTION TO GERMAN NUMBERS IN YOUR PRIMARY GERMAN CLASSROOM - GREAT FOR READING, SPEAKING AND PRONUNCIATION PROMPTS TOO! These German Numbers 1-20 flashcards / posters create a fabulous German feel to your classroom. Using flashcards to introduce and practise language is a really successful directed teaching and learning activity. Giving your learning environment German ’look’ also promotes German as a living language, featuring in the everyday life of the school.
The posters / flashcards introduce learners to Numbers 1-20 in German from the very beginning of their learning, and they are able to familiarize themselves with both the ‘look’ of German words, how those are represented in the written form, giving them the opportunity to begin to link spelling with sound in German. The posters work well with older students in their first German lessons too! I use the posters for spelling and mental maths games in German, and vocab quizzes too - the font is definitely big enough to be seen from all over the classroom. I also use the German-theme images to promote discussion about life in Germany, German traditions and so on, really getting the most from the learning display posters.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave, so 40 posters/flashcards in total.

PRIMARY SPANISH KS3 SPANISH FRUITS BINGO GAMES 100 DIFFERENTIATED BINGO GRIDS AND 40 CALLING CARDS Bingo games are perfect for language learning, and they’re really easy to differentiate. All my students, regardless of age, find playing the games a great way of consolidating their Spanish vocabulary, and developing their Spanish language skills in general - bingo is absolutely perfect for speaking, listening, reading, writing and spelling.
This set includes 100 differentiated bingo grids and 40 calling cards - 20 in Spanish, and 20 in English - I always play with English calling cards too, as I’ve found it’s a really great way of further consolidating vocabulary - students have to focus carefully on the language ‘switch’, and translate what they hear really quickly. It’s definitely useful to have calling cards, so that you can keep track of what you’re calling out, and it also lets students be the bingo caller too, meaning they can play entirely independently of the teacher.
There are twelve Spanish fruits in masculine, feminine, singular & plural in this set:
the green apple
the lemon
the oranges
the peach
the raspberries
the pineapple
the kiwi
the pear
the bananas
the green grapes
the strawberry
the watermelon
I differentiate my bingo games by using picture-only cards, which are great for general vocabulary consolidation and recall, and listening skills. There are 40 9-square grids in total, and there’s a set of color (which I sometimes laminate so that I can just get them out whenever I need to - make sure students have wipe-clean pens on their tables!). I’ve also included the same grids in black and white - simply print these out. I sometimes give out pages with four grids on, and let students choose which order they play the grids in - they have multiple pages - or sometimes, I get the students to cut out the grids, place them in a small bowl or similar on tables and they then randomly choose grids - depending on the size of your class, you will definitely have several winners per game. The grids are designed for all the squares to be crossed off in order to win the game.
I also use word-only grids to help students focus more on their reading skills, so I’ve included 40 Spanish word-only 9-square grids, 4 per page (10 pages). There are 20 mixed word and picture grids are ideal for additional challenge and differentiation.
Have a browse in my store for more Spanish language learning games, and a wide range of other Spanish activities, with lots of freebies too!

¡MUCHAS GRACIAS Y BUEN APRENDIZAJE!
GCSE SPANISH DOMINOES GAMES High-frequency Spanish verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency Spanish verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. There are 99 common Spanish verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the Spanish and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different.
There are three games, each with a different level of challenge:
Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, Spanish to English
Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also Spanish to English
Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to Spanish, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall
There’s a full alphabetical Spanish-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified.
To ensure successful learning, play regularly as you work with verbs and vocabulary - against a timer in teams works well to map both improved recall and word recognition, as well as increasing confidence - students genuinely enjoy seeing if they can beat their own time record. Dominoes games work really well in language learning as a free-choice activity - I have folders of resources for students to select their own activity, according to what they feel they would most like to revisit. We have free-choice activity time every few lessons for a half hour or so, which also provides a welcome break from the particular target focus.
There’s definitely prep involved - printing and cutting out. I always laminate my dominoes games, as they’re far more learner-friendly, and they last for absolutely years, so once you’re prepped the set or several sets, you will never have to prep the games again.

They enable them to work more independently, both in class and at home. This French Telling the Time Reference Book has 14 pages, and features every analogue clock time in French. There’s a My Notes page too - I encourage students to make notes on their progress, and think about how they are progressing - we use this to inform and guide whole-group discussion about learning and progress in general, which is a really popular and effective activity too.

MERCI BEAUCOUP ET BON APPRENTISSAGE !
ALEVEL ITALIAN FUTURE PERFECT TENSE CONJUGATION PRACTICE (futuro anteriore) 25 high-frequency Italian -ARE verbs, 150 conjugation questions, 3 differentiated challenges, answer keys. My students really like this kind of grammar activity, as they like to work and learn independently, which is a successful way of varying teaching and learning methodologies - I’ve found it’s really important to avoid predominantly teacher-led learning in the languages classroom. The workbook is ideal for advanced intermediate into advanced Italian students who have progressed to complex language and texts in Italian, including authentic resources, and have a sound understanding of tense and mood in Italian.
The structure of the resource is as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: Italian-English and English-Italian.
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated in Italian across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in Italian, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation in French.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding Italian verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of Italian conjugation works, reflect on what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets.

PRIMARY GERMAN KS3 GERMAN NUMBERS GAMES ACTIVITIES German Numbers 0-31 I have, Who has… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practising, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in German. The game has a***multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading out loud***, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too.
The aim of the game is to create a German number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card null, and ending with the final card, einunddreißig. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner German learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult German learners, who really enjoy it too. The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word, and how to link sound with spelling. Try to print in colour if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning - and the monster theme is popular with all ages and grades!
Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little harder on their concentration, pronunciation and reading out loud skills. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best German accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play!
