I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of French, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image. Children glue them into their French vocabulary books, or file them in their French vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful French vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning.
There are two versions to choose from - color, which I use for French vocabulary display, or BW, which saves prep expense, and is also a popular activity with younger students, who like to color as they read aloud and practice their French numbers.

ESL EFL ELL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 REFERENCE LIST
ESL EFL ELL ENGLISH NUMBERS 0-31 I like to give my beginner language learners a series of reference resources - they’re really popular with students, particularly for refreshing and revising vocab. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class. I designed this specifically for my young and/or beginner learners of English, it’s suitable for a range of ages and learning stages. Numbers definitely provide lots of opportunities for cross-curricular learning in class time, particularly with mental math games, which really helps beginner English learners get to grips with the vocab.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - UK flag, which I tend to use for classroom display, and black wave - the background makes the list a little more visually appealing, which can be really important in terms of motivation for language learners, who have a lot of vocab to learn. There are two non-editable files in a zipped format. The resource is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed in any way.

I like to give visual vocabulary lists to my young beginner learners of English, as they can generally more easily assimilate new language and vocabulary when they are able to link it in their memory with a visual image, and it’s particularly important to match a clock time with the corresponding clock face when learning how to tell time. Students glue the lists into their English vocabulary books, or file them in their English vocabulary folders with other vocabulary lists, which gives them an accessible and useful English vocabulary reference bank for both class and home learning.
For young and / or beginner English learners, I focus initially on a single time set, and this list shows o’clock on a single page. This is because in my experience students benefit from a very clear outline of new language and vocabulary, avoiding lots of text on a single page - even my older students who are completely new to English prefer this. When I’m sure that students are confident with a particular time set, I then move on to additional time sets.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag, which I use for English vocabulary display, or plain.

SPANISH VERBS LIST FREEBIE #2
ADVANCED BEGINNER SPANISH INTERMEDIATE SPANISH ADVANCED SPANISH HIGH-FREQUENCY SPANISH VERBS
***Files are non-editable in a zipped format. The product is copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, amended, shared or distributed in any way outside your own classroom. It is free to download, but Terms of Use still apply. ***
25 high-frequency Spanish verbs, listed alphabetically Spanish-English and English-Spanish ideal as a year-round reference resource, and students find it particularly useful for exam revision, whether working in class time or at home. It’s useful for advanced beginner Spanish students to provide a language learning map, for intermediate Spanish students who are working with more complex language and texts, including authentic resources, and advanced Spanish students as a vocabulary audit and enrichment.
The verbs are all in the infinitive form and include regular and irregular Spanish verbs. It’s important in language learning to ensure that students quickly develop a useful Spanish verb vocabulary bank, are able to recognize high-frequency Spanish verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in their first or home language. At that point students can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context, enabling them to produce more detailed and descriptive language. This is an integral element to successful language learning.
Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning long lists of verbs or other vocabulary all at once though: frequent and regular use in real-world practical contexts is far more successful at embedding vocabulary into longer-term memory. I also use the books for quick vocabulary quizzes, again at frequent and regular intervals - I simply shout out the Spanish or English verb, the first student or team to shout out the correct answer wins a point. I’ve found this to be a really successful alternative to more formal vocabulary testing.
The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on high-frequency Spanish verbs for your students, the list is a good starting point.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - Spanish flag, which I tend to use for Spanish vocabulary display or Spanish grammar display, and plain.

I like to display key vocab in my language learning classrooms - word walls are a simple and effective way of doing that - this set offers an instant introduction to numbers 0-21 in German. We use them for number guessing and calculation games as well as quick vocab and spelling quizzes too.
There are two cards per 8.5 x 11 (A4) page in landscape format - the words are definitely big enough for children to be able to read from various locations in the classroom, so that we can really make the most of our learning display - we do lots of mental math, spelling and vocab games, as well as pronunciation practice for example. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag or black wave. I always laminate/print my word walls on robust card stock - they last in great condition for years.

ENGLISH VERBS LIST FOR FRENCH SPEAKERS FREEBIE #2
ANGLAIS LANGUE SECONDE ESL EFL ENGLISH COMMON VERBS FOR FRENCH-SPEAKING LEARNERS OF ENGLISH English language verb reference resource for French-speaking students focusing on high-frequency English verbs. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference, either in class or at home. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency English verbs that students will meet in the beginning to intermediate stages of English learning programs. They are common English verbs, so they will see, hear and use the verbs regularly in daily life. They include regular and irregular verbs, and are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize English verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in French - at that point they can move on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. Students shouldn’t take on the task of learning 25 verbs all at once though - this is more of a longer-term reference resource that students can use to audit their developing English verb vocabulary - embedding the verbs into long-term memory will come through frequent usage.
There are two alphabetical lists - one English-French, and one French-English, as I’ve found that beginner language students prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - England flag (which looks good as grammar / vocabulary display), and black wave - students tell me that this makes vocab lists more visually appealing, which is really useful when they’ve got a lot of vocab to work through and learn.

I encourage my beginner French students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organising their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning files or folders. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string).
I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarize themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language.

ENGLISH CONVERSATION STARTERS FREEBIE
ADVANCED BEGINNER ENGLISH INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH ADVANCED INTERMEDIATE ENGLISH CONVERSATION STARTERS FREEBIE 10 cards in question format
Speaking is a language skill that learners tend to find very challenging, and increased engagement with language that requires them to both reproduce language they are already familiar with, and to be creative with that language in order to produce new language is integral to successful language learning.
The questions feature a range of tenses and moods, such as the present tense, present subjunctive, perfect, imperfect, and conditional, with a couple of questions focusing on if + subjunctive + conditional clauses. There is a significant amount of implicit input on a range of grammatical concepts, particularly the use of tenses. I try to include as broad a range of language as I can in the questions, as the activity is not solely about practising language, but also about actively learning it.
Questions formats are varied, to ensure maximum opportunity to work with the different ways to ask questions in English. Some questions seek to elicit very similar information, but are asked in different language: this avoids learners simply parroting learned responses to fixed prompts.
I remind students that it is not necessary to tell the truth - the purpose is to create and produce accurate and realistic language. Students can prepare their responses in as much detail as possible on the accompanying planning sheet, remembering that these are conversation starters, so that once they have responded, they should then say something to keep the conversation going.
Frequent and regular engagement with the activity brings the best results: with the planning sheet, students can create and prepare increasingly detailed and more complex responses, reflecting their learning progress. I definitely find it useful to read through the questions together as a whole-group, with students offering initial suggested responses. This ensures everyone can actually access the language, and they also benefit a lot from each others’ ideas.
