I encourage my beginner German students to build up a comprehensive vocabulary bank that they can reference easily whenever they need it. I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on. This particular sheet is for my more experienced German learners, who’ve been learning German for a while - all the numbers are on a single page in landscape format, so the font is fairly small, but they’re comfortable with quite a bit of text on a single page - beginner learners do need to have language very clearly accessible. Have a look at this version that I give my absolute beginners - the numbers are across two pages in portrait format:

A great instant reference resource for students focusing on high-frequency German adjectives. I’ve found that the lists are a great learning support resource, and they’re really popular with students too. They work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
This list is a second collection of 25 high-frequency German adjectives that I’ve found are ideal for beginner German into intermediate German learning programs - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful German adjectives vocabulary bank, are able to recognize German adjectives, and are confident with the meaning of those adjectives in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at adjectival endings and agreement, producing more complex and descriptive language, and using the adjectives in a communicative and practical context, which is essential for progressing in language learning.
The purpose of the list isn’t to simply learn all 25 adjectives by rote: it’s a longer-term reference resource that students use for example when they’re writing creatively, preparing written texts, or working with their talk partner to develop speaking skills. My students also use their vocabulary reference lists to help them audit their developing German vocabulary in general.
The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on adjectives in German for your students, the list is a good starting point.
There are two alphabetical lists - one German-English, and one English-German, as I’ve found that language learners prefer to have both as a reference resource. There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I generally use for German grammar display, and plain.

I like to ensure my students are able to build a comprehensive vocab bank from the beginning of their learning, and create a whole range of reference lists focusing on high-frequency German vocabulary. The lists work well when students keep them carefully in learning files or folders for current and future reference. They also work well printed double-sided and laminated for small-group work in class.
There are two alphabetical lists - one German-English, and one English-German, as I’ve found that beginner German students prefer to have both, particularly younger learners at the beginning of a particular topic or theme. I give my students of all grades and learning phases a whole series of reference lists, that build up into a really comprehensive reference bank over the course of their German program. They’re really popular with my students, as they know they can just go to their reference file or folder, and find what they need. They tell me that they feel far more confident about their German when they have a good grasp of core vocab. They’re great for quick vocab quizzes too.
There are two alphabetical lists - one German-English, and one English-German, as I’ve found that beginner German students prefer to have both as a reference resource. I’ve noted where a verb is separable, irregular or conjugated with sein. If my group is small, I provide students with a set of double-sided and laminated reference resources. My students all have a reference file or folder, again from the beginning of their learning, and part of helping them develop independence in, and responsibility for, their learning, is to give them opportunity to keep their learning resources in good order, and easily accessible.
The verbs are all in the infinitive form - it’s an important step in learning is to ensure that students quickly develop a useful vocabulary bank, are able to recognize high-frequency German verbs, and are confident with the meaning of those verbs in English - at that point we can move swiftly on to looking at conjugation and using the verbs in a communicative and practical context. We also use our reference lists to help students audit their developing German verb vocabulary.
The list is a great time-saver for teachers too - if you’re preparing resources focusing on high-frequency German verbs for your students, the list is a good starting point.
There are two backgrounds to choose from - German flag, which I generally use for German grammar or German vocabulary display, and plain.

I encourage my beginner German students of all ages and stages to build up comprehensive vocabulary banks that they can reference easily whenever they need it, and they’re also really useful for regular vocabulary audits, which really helps students map their progress and keep track of their learning. Students take responsibility for organising their own learning materials from the very beginning of their learning, keeping them carefully in vocabulary learning files or folders. My students all have reference resource folders or files - these can have a range of formats - for instance, sticking into a large exercise book, or punching holes down the left-hand side, and adding to files (we also use twine or thick string).
I also use this kind of vocabulary list for quick vocabulary quizzes, spelling competitions and so on, and it also works well laminated for small-group work in class time. The font size is fairly large, as ensuring that language is clear and accessible is essential for beginner language learners, as they begin to familiarise themselves with words and spelling systems in a new language.

GERMAN CONJUGATION PRACTICE SAMPLER
BEGINNER GERMAN CONJUGATION DRILLS INTERMEDIATE GERMAN CONJUGATION DRILLS FREE SAMPLER
Please read the Terms of Use - the sampler is free to download, but remains copyright, all rights reserved. It may not be copied, rewritten, shared or distributed outside your own classroom in any way.
A great way of practicing, reinforcing and revising how to conjugate all the various verb groups and tenses/moods in German. I use them in a range of learning contexts such as independent work either in class time or at home, holiday refresher work, or individual activities for sub lessons. The sampler gives an idea of how the quick conjugation sets work,
Each workbook is structured as follows:
Two alphabetical verb reference lists: German : English and English : German
Three conjugation challenges, each with 50 individual conjugations:
Conjugation Challenge 1: each verb conjugated across a range of pronouns, with students writing the corresponding English verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 2: gives the infinitive of each verb in German, specifying the target pronoun. Students write the corresponding verb conjugation.
Conjugation Challenge 3: students write the corresponding German verb conjugation, and its infinitive, from an English prompt.
Notes and Next Steps sheet, which encourages students to think about how their understanding of German conjugation works, what progress they have made, what their targets for improvement might realistically be, and what they might reasonably do in order to meet those targets. Students also note down any new verbs they discover, which enables them to build up a really sound verb vocabulary bank.
answer key
This sampler demonstrates a range of conjugation challenges, with the answer key immediately following the relevant conjugation questions. It will definitely give you an idea of what the quick conjugation workbooks look like, and how they are structured, and whether you think they’ll work well for your students.
The contents are as follows:
high-frequency verbs list: German-English
reflexive verbs list: English-German
regular verbs present tense conjugation: Challenge 1 with answer key

Students can develop, embed, reinforce and refresh their knowledge of German numbers 0-100 in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher. The questions have a bonus multi-skill focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, reading and spelling. They’re great for helping students familiarize themselves with, and develop competence in, speaking, reading, writing and spelling longer words in German.
The translation questions are a great way of introducing beginner German* learners to the concept of translation too. All questions are in German, and range in complexity and challenge, both in terms of language and number skills.
This set comprises the following non-editable files:
48 differentiated question cards, 6 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper. Laminate if possible - they’re far more learner-friendly and last for absolutely years!
2-page answer recording sheet - I don’t always use a recording sheet - my students all have class workbooks, and they use those to work out their answers, and to note them down
2-page answer key One answer key for each small group is sufficient. Answer keys are essential in my view - they create a more independent learning ethos in the classroom, and offer students and additional opportunity to engage with language. Additionally, they genuinely enjoy correcting their own - and particularly each others’ - work!

French Numbers 0-31 J’ai… Qui a… ? This is a whole-group lively & communicative language learning game, perfect for practicing, reinforcing & refreshing how to count from 0 - 31 in French. The game has a multi-skill focus: listening, speaking & reading, with an important bonus focus on social interaction and participation. It’s perfect for pronunciation practice too.
The aim of the game is to create a French number chain as quickly as possible, starting with the first card zéro , and ending with the final card, trente et un. The game works just as well if the number sequence is placed on the floor, a longish table, or other flat surface. I created the game for my young beginner learners, but I’ve also played the game with my adult learners, who really enjoy it too - the monster theme is popular with everyone! The design is four cards per page, which allows for a large font - this is really important for beginner language learners who are starting to familiarize themselves with the written word. Try to print in color if you can - it adds to the visual appeal of the game, which is a real motivator for learning.
Download, print out, laminate, cut out & shuffle the cards. I’d definitely recommend you laminate the cards, despite the extra prep and expense. They’re far more learner-friendly, and they will last for absolutely years. Distribute the cards, one or two per student, depending on how many students you have in your group. I often play too - students really do enjoy it when I join in, and they seem to work that little bit harder on their concentration and pronunciation. Students walk around the room, talking to each other in their best French accent, sharing the information on their cards, until they have arranged the numbers in the correct order. The game works best played against a timer, regularly over a longer-term series of lessons - can students beat beat their own time record? I always do some high-speed counting warm-up activities, forwards & backwards, to get everyone ready to play!

High-frequency German verbs dominoes games: 3 games and challenges are a lively alternative to more traditional grammar & vocabulary ‘drilling’ activities. They will help students build up and embed their vocabulary and knowledge of high-frequency German verbs in a cooperative, communicative and interactive way, independently of the teacher.
There are 99 common German verbs in the infinitive form, along with the corresponding English verbs. Students can work happily challenging themselves and each other to create a perfect domino bilingual verb sequence, on the classroom floor, or on a long(ish) table, by matching the German and English verbs. The game has a bonus multi-focus on listening, speaking, pronunciation, and reading, and also helps students identify cognates and words that may look similar to English, but mean something different.
There are three games, each with a different level of challenge:
Challenge One features the verbs in alphabetical order, German to English
Challenge Two features the verbs in random order, also German to English
Challenge Three again features the verbs in random order, but this time from English to German, which works a little different in terms of vocab recall
There’s a full alphabetical German-English verb list, which students find really useful as they begin to build and embed their verb vocabulary - we find it useful to have a quick look through the list prior to playing for the first time, and it’s also really good for some additional whole-group pronunciation practice. Each challenge is on a different background, so that they can be easily identified.

Frequent and regular engagement with the activity brings the best results: with the planning sheet, students can create and prepare increasingly detailed and more complex responses, reflecting their learning progress. Les couleurs en français - 8 posters / flashcards. These***adjectival agreement*** flashcards / posters, with a focus on the colour vert, make an ideal grammar and speaking prompt in the French classroom - I encourage students to look carefully at the differences between le monstre vert and la voiture verte in the singular, and les montres verts and les voitures vertes in the plural.
I use questions such as Vrai ou faux ? Le monstre verte ? , really emphasizing, even exaggerating pronunciation, so that they can hear the difference in agreement. I often write the questions on the whiteboard, as it’s equally important that they are able to recognize the differences in the written words too, and to link sound with spelling - all of this means I really make the most from my classroom learning decor.
There are two design formats to choose from - either the French flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum. These four my favorite color posters make an ideal speaking prompt in the Primary French Immersion classroom - I encourage students to ask each other Quelle est ta couleur préférée ? as a lesson starter / warm-up, and to select a different color every time they answer. As they learn more colors, their answers become more varied. I tend to introduce the plural form with the connective et (and) quite quickly, so that students can extend their answers as much as they possibly can - they have great fun seeing who knows the most colors, and can create the longest answers.
The key colors are: blue, green, pink and yellow. There are two design formats to choose from - either the French flag, or plain without frame, to keep prep costs to a minimum. Print on card stock and / or laminate if you can, as they are easier to manipulate as flashcards, display much more effectively as decor, and remain in excellent condition for years.
It doesn’t matter if some of the colors don’t feature in your immediate or even longer-term learning plan: the posters provide learners with daily opportunities to engage with the written word in French, to develop their recognition and recall of individual words, to identify cognates and near-cognates, and to begin to link spelling with sound in French.

Other grammatical concepts are addressed in the questions too, such as gender agreement, direct and indirect objects, personal pronouns and word order in German.
The set comprises the following non-editable files:
= 48 differentiated question cards*, 4 per A4 (8.5 x 11) paper, laminate if possible, as they’re more learner-friendly, and remain in excellent condition for years
= answer key & answer recording sheet: we use the recording sheet for more formal assessment purposes; students generally use their class workbooks to note responses, saving both prep time and expense

GERMAN TASK CARDS BUNDLE #1
INTERMEDIATE GERMAN ELEMENTARY GERMAN FOR CHILDREN BEGINNER GERMAN TASK CARDS BUNDLE 13 SETS @ $4.00 EACH IN THE BUNDLE

There are 13 sets of German Task Cards in this bundle. My students absolutely love challenge cards, and find them really useful for helping them get to grips with their German. Task cards are great for independent learning - students can work at their own pace, in pairs or in small groups, and really focus on the target language.
The questions and templates focus on multi-skill language learning, not focusing solely on the target vocabulary - they provide students with opportunities to apply prior learning, and to encounter more complex language they may not yet have covered formally in class.
There are answer keys and recording sheets for every set, though my students often just use their notebooks for writing their answers. Most sets have a question card template too - this is a really popular activity with my students, and they love to create questions for each other. Additionally, this enables them to apply their developing understanding of German in a very practical and creative way. Several sets also have accompanying vocabulary lists, which are great as a learning support resource, as well as a year-round reference resource. I have a series of challenge cards sets ready to go for my students - they’re a very popular choice for our ’free-choice’ learning time.

All files are non-editable in a zipped format and include a range of the following:
differentiated question cards, students don’t have to work through all cards at once - they can select cards randomly for short periods of time during lessons, whatever way suits your learning plan best.
answer recording sheet - I don’t actually always use these - I let students use their work notebooks for answers simply use their notebooks for answers. In some set, I’ve included a sheet with a background, and one without. Similarly, in some sets I’ve also included a blank sheet, with no numbers, which is useful when students are working ‘randomly’ through the cards at different times.
answer key - I find having a key essential for students, as it helps them to work and learn independently, and it also offers extra opportunity to engage with language - I tend to laminate sets of answer keys - one answer key for each small group is enough
question cards template for students to apply their knowledge practically, and to create questions for each other - this is a really challenging and popular activity, and I encourage students to include other vocab and verbs they know or learn.
