A card game to spot the initial sound. all you need to do is print and laminate then add pegs to the phonics table. can they spot the sound. also supports that pincer movement skills to open and close pegs! the only cards which have only 1 sound is "i'' i didn't want to confuse with ice cream icicle as these sounds sent 'i' will be making more- these took a while!! phase 3 sounds (J , v ,w,x, y z and qu, already on this set)

Here’s how to play Big Bad Mouse! • Print, laminate and cut out all of the cards. • If you want to do it weekly print the cards which you want to consolidate and add each week as you go. • Bundle them into a deck of cards and shuffle. • Turn the cards face down on the table. Children take it in turns to turn over the top card. • If the child can read it then he/she can keep it. • If a child gets the “Big Bad Mouse” card then he/she must give back all of the cards and place back in the forest!! The winner is the person with the most cards at the end of the game. We also have a mat where the returned cards go rather than back into the pile to make the game shorter!

after a request i have uploaded the alternative flashcards we use in the classroom. includes au, e-e, ue, i (igh) , ea (e) ie , oe, ey, ie as in chief, ce , ph, wh, y (e) (igh) i laminate the sound and the rhyme back to back. at the bottom corner is a clue to the sound it makes. we find it helps especially when you have two ways of making a sound using the same letters!

This game takes me back to my youth! i have made 9 games. i am going to get the children to choose and alien, open and close the right number of times to segment the colour.. p.i..n.k / g.r.ee. n.. then choose the number on the flap in side and count again, then choose a final number, read the name and say the sound... open to check! Photos don't have the numbers on as i printed before adding them, not ink in printer- will update once ink is purchased! Featuring ai/oi au/ou ew/air ay/oy or/ar ur/ie ir/ue oa/ea i-e/e-e

The aim of the game is to find four in a row. We played this like memory game. picture cards/ aliens place face down. children turned over and found matching word.. or coloured alien to coloured word. we played it today and it was great fun- even if i did loose! kids loved it that much they asked for a copy each to play at home ! pictures of the sheets ready to use! bright , colourful and most importantly totally engaged my children.
