This presentation is based on GCSE History of American West in the 19th Century book. The content of the course has been converted into a series of slides enriched by adding many pictures, maps diagrams and photos, so the topic becomes more accessible to all ability pupils. There are couple of links to YouTube videos. This unit is covering the process and problems of the migration to the West (Oregon and California) in mid 19th century: the Oregon Trail, preparation of the wagons, the problems of migrants travelling through the trail, and the Donner Party experiences on the way to the West.

The main aim of this resource is to make the content of the course more visual, by adding pictures, photos, diagrams, maps, and video links, hence more accessible to all ability pupils.
