This is a simple 5 step booklet that walks students through finding out a volume through displacement method, including illustrations and the correct formula.

This is a perfect activity for the beginning of the year, that offers some simple guidance and explanation but also encourages natural inquiry. Students should understand that what they value about being at school by explaining what they feel is most important during their day. Similar to a "taxonomy" pyramid that organizes information based on importance, students will create a list of what they do each day at school, sort it based on the level of importance to them, and then create the pyramid. Once all pyramids are made, students will look at each others and complete a comparison recording sheet. This is also great at getting students to see how they each value the different parts of the day, and that the importance could be based on personal interests, what they find easy or challenging, or based on their level or creativity/logic. I found that the best way for students to learn their sight words was to have them wear the sight word that they are working on. I tried stickers with the words, or stamps on their hands, so that the word was always close by if they needed to refer to it during class. But stamps wash away and stickers lose their stick, so I came up with bracelets. Mine are colored for each different sight word that the students are working on. It helps differentiate if they are working on more than one sight word at a time. Simply print, cut, and tape around your student's wrists, so they can easily wear what they are learning!

This Homework Survey was created with a student's home life in mind in addition to trying to make a teacher's life a little bit easier. Many times teachers go back and forth regarding homework: assign it and no one completes it, or enforce a zero homework policy and upset parents that there isn't any practice to be done at home. This survey allows teachers to assess a student's home life and activities away from school to determine what kind of homework might be best, how long it should take, in what form a student should complete their homework, etc...
