The tasks focus on drawing a shell (natural form) with added tone. The following tasks are included: Task 1: Replicate the Tonal Value Chart below. Using a pencil (ideally a 2B pencil) shade the blank chart. It should show a gradient of tones from dark to light. Task 2: Replicate the drawing of the shell. It shows a real depth of tones from light to dark. First, focus on drawing the outline of the shell lightly in pencil. Add the tone – start with the lighter tones, as you can adjust these by making them darker if needed. You might prefer to add in the shadow first, so you can see the darkest tone you can create with your pencil. Remember to refer to your Tonal Value Chart to help you add a variety of tones to your drawing.
