The Walking Dead Zombie Apocalypse Task - Exponential Functions
Engage your students in a mathematical task echoing the premise of the popular TV show, "The Walking Dead".
With an impending zombie apocalypse on the horizon, students are asked to compile a report to the United States government warning of the potential dangers looming ahead and to explain how much time is left to save the world. This mathematical task gives students the opportunity to further explore and understand exponential functions in a “real world” situation. Students will utilize technology to incorporate tables and graphs into their official report, and they will be asked to analyze their information and support and defend their reasoning. Students will have the ability to be creative and create an engaging presentation as they explain their results from the function they have developed.
This pdf file includes 1 title page, 1 page of directions, a 1 page sample rubric for grading purposes, and a 2 page answer key.

AP Calculus Optimization and Related Rates Foldable
This single piece of paper foldable has instructions, strategies, and an example for related rates, optimization, linearization, and differential problems.
One foldable and one "answer key" foldable are included. The teacher can either provide the students with the "answer key" foldable, or the teacher can walk through the setup, the steps, and the answer to each of the examples and have the students fill in portions and highlight and color in important information as they work along.
Students will simply fold the piece of paper in toward the center line on the Related Rates/Optimization side and a small booklet will be created.

This activity is great for students to work collaboratively and to discuss the connections in math with one another. It a great review of precalculus before students begin calculus.
As a teacher there are three options:
You can give your students a graph of a function and they must fill in the equation, the domain and range, and the end behavior.
You can give your students an equation of a function and they must sketch a graph, and give the domain and range, and the end behavior.
