I am a Humanities and Social Sciences teacher in regional Western Australia. I am only in my fourth year of teaching so I still (and always will!) have lots to learn! I am back into teaching after travelling around Europe for six months learning about the incredible History the land holds.

Students cut and paste the puzzle pieces to create a map showing the major plate tectonics of Earth. A great activity for low ability students, or an early finisher activity to extend the understanding of visual learners. Plates will glue into a small rectangle but will not fit together perfectly. This reflects real world conditions of plate tectonics.

Get to know your students with this great Geography activity! Students practice their skills in BOLTSS and introduce themselves through a beautiful piece of artwork that can be displayed in the classroom. I use this in my highschool classroom as an activity in the first week of school and students respond well.

Resource includes a labelling worksheet for students of all abilities. Plenty of YouTube videos to put on where students can find the information and fill in the labels throughout the video or students can research the information on the Internet.

As a class, create a display of a collection of different Australian landscapes. This resource allows students to become experts in one the different landscapes of Australia through a research task for low to average ability students. At the end of the lesson, I have students form expert groups for each landscape and present what they found out about their landscapes to the class.
